My HTML is spitting out... Chinese?

Post by Darkazriel »

I don't know what's causing it, but I've been over it and over it and can't find a solution- my coding keeps spitting out random chinese. It's all in english. :(

I put an error page up on the two affected pages (gallery and fanart gallery) and now it's gotten even more special. All that there is in the programming is an error message, not even any tags, and yet, one displays the message (http://apotheosis.keenspace.com/fanart.html) and one displays the random chinese. (http://apotheosis.keenspace.com/gallery.html)

*head hits keyboard in despair*

EDIT: I've put the pages themselves up again so the problem is easier to see. In firefox most of it becomes chinese but the HTML at least works for the color of the background. In IE the html is treated as text for some reason and just displays it all, though it puts in pictures. :/

I am definitely not seeing this problem you're talking about.

I just checked it out in other browsers- for some reason it's only doing it in firefox.

I use firefox. Not seeing anything that isn't supposed to be there. All I see in the code for your gallery page is "This page is having issues at the moment. I'm working on it, but it likes to display in nonsense chinese for no reason.... Hence why it's down." which, unless I've gone blind, is not Chinese.

That's... very strange. Hmm, maybe it's just my computer. Although now that I've uploaded the pages themselves it looks very messed up no matter what I do. This just isn't going well. :-?

Well now I see it on your gallery page, now that you've updated.

What are you using to edit your pages?

Textwrangler, though it does the same thing with Word, BBEdit and textedit.

Well Word is no good for writing HTML pages, it throws in a load of junk code. I haven't heard of any problems with these other editors, but I've also never used them. Are you putting the code in yourself or is this a WYSIWYG type thing? What did you use to edit your other pages and how? They don't seem to be suffering from this problem.

Yeah, word made things worse for a while. -_-; I'm coding it myself and I used the same programs (mostly textedit) to write all the other pages- it's just those two pages tha have a severe case of html seizures. I can't figure out why and it's driving me nuts.

I looked around and I don't see anything wrong. Well, aside from the fact that you have a message saying the page is having issues that is. No Chinese, though. Being incompetent with html, the best I can suggest is that you clear your cookies and try again. Maybe it's right but it's just have seizures on your computer because the computer doesn't know it's fixed yet? Or double check that all your < >'s are closed? I know that's a problem I have that can screw things up if I'm not careful...and that's about as far as my html knowledge will take me. *shrugs helplessly* Comic looks cool, btw. Sorry I was so useless.
