Captain Mike has snuck a couple of familiar
faces from my comic into his own. You'll have
to wait for a few days to really understand
this scene, but here's something for the good
captain in return.

Of course I did! I couldn't let such a golden opportunity to just slip by. Of course since Gene (aka Albert) and Catswisker(aka Catwisker) had already made their apperance it wasn't too much of a surprise. As for Cotton's and Tavatiana's apperance(29th and 30th respectivaly), well you'll just have to wait like everybody else.
-Captain Mike

I would be surprised if you did! Especially since I just decided to use them in the story yesterday. Which is also the day I drew those same strips! Although Tavatiana's ears didn't come out right.
I'll do them up in a fan art for you like I did with Gene and Catswisker. I probably won't get to it till Monday or tuesday though.

I zipped off those two pics today. I'm still not a 100% happy with the way Tavatiana's ears came out this time. It came out better this time around though.
-Captain Mike

Oh, I checked.. and I'm beginning to think
you're having more fun with my creations than
almost I am! <=) Tavatiana's ears are unique
and therefore sorta tricky to get right. But
you did pretty good!

[This message has been edited by genecatlow (edited 05-21-2001).]

Oh yeah I'm having a blast playing with your characters. The story is just flowing out butter smooth.
I think my problem in working with Tavatiana's ears comes fromthe emotion I want to excpress with them. I noticed that when you drew them they're very tight together and the inside of the ear points outward rather than forward. At least the did until she and cotton had there little excursion. It gave her a very formal and reserved posture and appearance. I tired to keep the same tight grouping but with the ears facing forward. That way I could retain the quite reserve and allow for a more ungaurded self to peek through.
Mostly that's because in my strip I kind of imagined Cotton and Tavatiana meeting earlier, before either of them came to power.
Which created a more open "feel" to Tavatiana and a agressive but controlled stance for Cotton.
-Captain Mike

She's a rather formal type of fur (or was, I
suppose, before she met Cotton) and I try to
reflect that in her overall look.

*chuckle* A lot of my characters "draw
themselves" (the furry ones, that is) and
Tavatiana is one of them. She is a lot of fun
to work with.

Oh I SO know what you mean.
Captain Mike started out as a doodle in Tax class.Just a little face then I added the smirk!
Bam! It just took off from there. I had the open three strips sketched out in under five minutes.
-Captain Mike
