Funny thing, I didn't know about the draw-off before this topic. I had the bad habit to never look at the live journal. Anyway, I think that I will not be able to deal with the deadline. My skills are still basic, I still working on body proportions. Anyway, nice picture. I like your kitsune.

Thanks :3

Don't worry about the LJ -- I check at school when I've got a couple free moments in the mac lab, ya know?

I don't think it'd matter about skills -- what really matters is the spirit you put into the picture... right?

Does it have to be drawn by hand or can you do digi art?

I think that you can do it both by hand or digi-art, it does not matter.
Here is my submission, I would liked to make it better, but here it go.
Image
I have drawn my favorite character, Eric and I use Photoshop to colour it (and learn how to use it)

Oooh, Fenris, that's amazing.

You make Eric look so heroic... and not so mean.
I would have to say that coloring in photoshop can be quite a bugger... I don't like it much. I have little luck getting a nice paintlike effect, but then again, I'm so used to using programs that can be compared to paint on steriods.

And Mistix, you can do both -- Or at least that's what I understand... Scan and show, or do it on the computer... I don't think it matters

Thanks, I don't like the face too much, if I have time I try to improve it.
By the way, What program do you use for coloring?, because your submission looks great.

Personally, I use photoshop 7...
I like to use just plain old solids though -- I found some neat screentone textures that I rather like.

http://psychobob.xepher.net/screentonez/ <- here are those nifty textures.
I'm partial to the dots and tones for just plain old coloring or black and work.

I might make some of my own tones and patterns though... When I get time.

Makes slightly more sense if you're a Cardigans fan. ("Lead Me Into The Night" is a song from "Long Gone Before Daylight.")

Oooh, wow, that's really pretty....
That's Az and Mara, right?

Good gracious, I'm bored. xD; I've checked the BBS about four times today...

Sorry for the double post, but the ugliness of the coloring was bothering me.

I'll have to say that the shading does add a bit more to the image -- It makes it look more realistic...
What program do you use?

I use Photoshop CS2, although there isn't much difference in my technique between PSP 5 through CS. ^_^;

Heh, I can relate.
I'm used to using Oekaki or Art Dabbler... Photoshop was a BIG but needed change for me.

Though... I've never used PSP... Some of the file associations are the same, aren't they though?

Ack, I forgot that PSP means Paint Shop Pro. (I always think PhotoShoP.)

Does anyone use Paint Shop Pro? Honestly? I go to an art school and none of the classes use it.

Welps, looks like it's past the deadline...
And, Sushi, I get PSP and Photoshop mixed up too... I look at it the same way.

PSP... it comes with a few extra programs, I think. And it can do a little 3d, not much though... That's all I've seen though.

Did only three people submit? o_O

I wouldn't know. XD; I've never used PSP. I've used Photoshop almost exclusively since I was twelve. We had Painter for a few years, but I didn't understand it (hey, I was twelve) so I stopped using it.

Update on the Draw-off!

Picatrix:
Draw-off Update: It's still on :) My aunt passed away on Wednesday night, so unfortunately, I let the draw-off date pass without mention. So, I'm pushing it back a week, which means anyone who still wants to submit can do so until November 2nd and the poll will go up the third :)

Snatched from the saybox, just 'cause I thought it was important.
