For Cat42: Sloop John B -> Folky folky folky!

For Col: Das Fischerlied -> Well, I could choose this song myself, and since I had just recorded Cat42's folk song, I was in a folky mood. Also, nobody's going to request a German song, so this was my one chance to do a German folk song. It's a very sad song actually.. Here's a quite accurate translation of the lyrics, for those who care:

Once upon a time there was a fisherman
He had the most beautiful child
It was both a blessing and sorrow
Because his daughter was blind

At night she'd go to the shore
And sing with the wind and the sea
And she broke the heart of everone
Who listened to her songs

Then one day a stranger came
Came into the fisher's town
And he kissed the tears
From her blind eyes away

He asked her "Be mine"
His hand was cold and pale
And he lead her into the sea
Deep down to his kingdom

Oh father, my dear father
I beg you, please don't cry
On earth was only darkness
While now I see the light

For Rkolter: Bitch -> One of those songs that, I'm quite sure, are going to haunt me for the rest of my forumite existence...

Thanks again for all the nice feedback, y'all. It really, really means a lot to me. Why, I could almost cry. Oh yeah, and I also accept fanart.

Updated list:

-> "Straight Up" - Paula Abdul (for Subhuman)
-> "Rook" - XTC (for Psiogen)
-> "Never tear us apart" INXS (for Warren)
-> "Jolene" - Dolly Parton (for Claude; good one! :))

I just listened to it, and I certainly like your version than that of the Beach Boys, but of course you have a nicer voice. :D
If I want to use your rendition in a short, would you mind? I'll credit you of course, under any name you want to go by, and will stick in a link to which ever site of yours that you'd like. And of course you'd get to see the short when it's done.
I don't have one yet that I think this would be appropriate for, but something is bound to turnup.
That seemed kinda rambling and fanboyish...

Since you said no one else had been request german songs, how about "99 luftballons"?

Your take on "Bitch" was really, really good. I played it for my coworkers and they liked it too. :D

Is the list still too short? I've got what should be an easier request.

"Can't buy me love" - The Beatles.

Please. Also most excellent singing on everything you've done.

Another Beatles Request!

Post by Fading Aura »

You and I must be thinking along the same lines, Vort. ;) I'd like to request "Nowhere Man" by the Beatles if there is still space on your list.

Oh yeah, just keep on requesting. I'd rather have the list too long than too short. :)

-> "Straight Up" - Paula Abdul (for Subhuman)
-> "Rook" - XTC (for Psiogen)
-> "Never tear us apart" INXS (for Warren)
-> "Jolene" - Dolly Parton (for Claude; good one! :))
-> "99 Luftballons" - Nena (for Cat42)
-> "Can't Buy Me Love" - Beatles (for Vorticus)
-> "Nowhere Man" - Beatles (for Fading Aura)

For Claude: Jolene -> I always liked that song for some reason. Fun to get to record it, though, you know, not perfect.

I was gonna make a reply to this thread earlier, but was POWAH CUT'D so here it is now.
Cookie Reinforcement wrote:Also, Mooman is insanely jealous?? I'll HAVE to use that quote somewhere... This may be my ticket to the upper league! 8)
I'm not sure how far a 'Mooman leg-up' will get you. You need a scumbag like Bob or McDuff to adulate you with praise before you get a promotion to the upper eschelons of Internet Fame.

As for the thread, my thoughts can be summed up thusly: Image Damn yooooooou for possessing skillz almighty. Makes me wish I'd spent time learning guitar, cause then I could shred it up, big time. But nooo, I had to go become a smelly drummer. You can't post mp3s of drumming while singing at the same time! Well, you can, but they'd suck.

And it took me ages to gain a 'musical person' rep, while here you come in with actual talent and mess it all up! I'd include the 'tongue sticking out' emoticon here, but then it'd show up full size and mess up the 'aside'-styling to the smaller text.

This is just some more small text to make everyone reading annoyed.

Anyway, as for the whole 'no heavy metal' thang I DEFY YOU!!!!

Iron Maiden - Journeyman
or
Bruce Dickinson - Navigate the Sea of the Son

Both are acoustic songs from metal artists that are awesome and rock. Despite being acoustic they have all the hallmarks of wicked cool metal, so there.

Maybe I should do a 'musical request' thread... Wouldn't be as good as this one, as this one has real instruments however...

Sorry, folks, just more small text. Maybe next time.
What a rubbish signature.

"Orinoco Flow" by Enya. That'd be a beautiful, but hard one for you. You said you like a challenge.

Oh yes, please! Not only would it rawk, it would also give me a unique opportunity to rightfully call you a COPYCAT! :P

As for your song requests, I'll look into it.

Beautiful. Simply beautiful. I love songs like this in different languages. You really add a wonderful amount of emotion behind every note as well. I knew you'd sound great using just your voice. Thank you very much. :D

Alright, I was in a mood today... So, here are two non-requested songs that I felt like recording. They're songs that I've written and.. yeah:

Better Every Day - Very silly, stupid lyrics, long spoken intro for those who like to hear me talk.
Unknown Variables - Eh. Self-analyzing song, sort of?
-> Both none of my best songs, but when the mood strikes, I can't resist.

And here's another one for Mr. McDuffies, cause his requests rock: And Then You Kissed Me -> I fell in love with this song at first sight- no, that'll be.. at first sound? Huh. Still doesn't seem right. Oh well. I had to drink Jaegermeister to get this song right. No kidding.

-> "Straight Up" - Paula Abdul (for Subhuman)
-> "Rook" - XTC (for Psiogen)
-> "Never tear us apart" INXS (for Warren)
-> "99 Luftballons" - Nena (for Cat42)
-> "Can't Buy Me Love" - Beatles (for Vorticus)
-> "Nowhere Man" - Beatles (for Fading Aura)
-> "Fast As You Can" - Fiona Apple (for Nicotine)

Rkolter, I can't do the Enya song. Not with this style and recording method, I'm afraid... I have limits. /*shocking relevation*/

Mooman, those Heavy Metal bands make me feel uncomfortable, acoustic or not. I'll risk having your wrath on me and deny your request. Feel free to insert shaking fist and request something from another genre.

I hope I didn't overlook anyone.

"Time of your life" by Green day!

I would seriously kiss your feet once this is done.
