I didn't have my paw *up*... keeping them on
the drawing board so that I can get more
comics done. (mech. pencil in one, eraser in
the other) And a comic story requires that a
revelation to a character be told in a manner
that makes it clear that things are happening
*to* that character. If I just had Cotton snap
his fingers and say "Oh, hey! Now I understand
everything!" the comic would be quite short.<P>

I begin to wonder if the strife in Canovia and the Coffee^2 bean mightn't themselves be connected, now. But that's me and my warped mind.
And that's near Canovia's present boundaries (though on Earth, boundaries have been, erm, changeable over the years, let's just say...), not in it. Near. At least from what Ernie said.

Yes, Ernie did. But, territorially speaking,
their civilization was in the geographically
correct location. (Denevia could very well
have been incorporated into Canovia in the
present day, it being a former country.)<P>

Is it THAT hard to guess the connection? <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/biggrin.gif"> But yeah, that's nice to verify... Of course, now that there's two different on-going plots to keep up with, both will take longer to resolve, suspensefully speaking...<P>"We have to wait 24 more hours now for a new installment!" -- said of cliffhangers for Avalon, usually when the weekend hits and it's actually longer than that

it's all part of telling the story. Coffee is
indeed generally linked with South American
countries, but in fact the discovery and use
of the plants which have the same properties
as coffee took place all over the world. (Both
ours and the one where Canovia is found.)

I hadn't given much thought to this before, but if coffee is native to South America, why do they call it cafe arabica? I think I remember some story about it being discovered by some arab sheep herder who's flock was behaving oddly after browsing on some shrubs...

in fact many such plants with the same ingredients

the most popular beverage in the majority of
the world. There are legends about the
discovery of tea as well - one Chinese tale
concerns a sage who fell asleep during his
meditation. When he awoke, he was so upset at
his weakness that he tore off his eyelids (!)
and flung them to the ground. Where they fell,
a tea plant grew, and ever since then those
who wish to forestall sleep have been able to
partake of tea to do so.
