With Quentyn's recent luck, the dang thing is going to go off later in the fight because he pulled the trigger earlier. Random fire, anybody?
Or could this be a set-up to make (unknown to anyone recharging) Wild Card come smashing through the walls?

The Redcaps get Quentyn, Squidge, and their original victem on the ground and ready to be pummelled / sliced when
1) Wild Card comes careening into the alley, bouncing off the narrow walls and avoiding the Redcaps on it's way to Quentyn's hand.
2) the elfshot pistol goes off, it's whole charge, making it bounce and buck where it was dropped.
Individual shots ricochet off the walls, the slicer sticks, and most especially the dervishing Wild Card, causing them to skewer everything in the alley. The only oddity is that none of the shots that ricoched off Wild Card strike Quentyn, while a few of those headed his way were deflected by the unpredictable sword.
The Red Caps crawl away to lick their wounds. Quentyn and Squidge get the kit out of the alley and somewhere safe, where...
