Yeah... pay-to-play MMORPGs generally have less dipshits...Sortelli wrote:My biggest gripe about MMORPGs is similar. I'm very anti-social and I want to do the ingame quests alone and not with a bunch of gamers who have done them twenty times over and use abbreviations for everything.
I don't mind there being other people IN the game, either as background noise or competitors or threats, but I don't like playing with people in general. And most MMORPGs allow you to sort of solo, but make certain things damn imposible to do on your own no matter how good or careful you are. And I don't like that.
But... yeah.. some things are impossible to do alone.. hence the "MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER" element....
Yay antisoscial!

Wow... just checked my old, old, old 2-year-+-since-I-last-touched-it runescape account, guessed login and pw, and got in... WOW (lol... pun... -_-) that was a long time ago.
And sure enough, RO still comes out ahead.

A few bots are okay, but not when the entire map is FULL of bots, and I'm guessing only 5% of the characters there are actual players, probably even less. I could tolerate them if the didn't STEAL-KILL you all the time. They come in, kill the monster you are attacking, loot, fly away. Argh!Gengar003 wrote:Feh. So, in other words, you didn't have the patience? RO's a bitch to level in two or three level ranges... some people solve this by botting. The rest have to suck it up.Humbug wrote:I'd love to but I dont own a credit card. And those monthly ones are pretty costly. I used to play Ragnarok Online but all the bots sucked the fun out of it. Nowadays I generally avoid mmorpgs coz I'm afraid my addiction to it will kick in. ^^

Wow? What map were *you* on? I've never seen it that bad... when was the last time you played? About.. six months ago, I think, the "amatsu" update nerfed most good botting grounds, so botters have nowhere really to go, excep bylan island.... that's still chock-full of bots.Humbug wrote:A few bots are okay, but not when the entire map is FULL of bots, and I'm guessing only 5% of the characters there are actual players, probably even less. In reality, only a few maps are even worth being that heavily botted; non-aggro maps with good drops. Once you get up to a higher level, every place you'll be levelling will be aggro, making botting impossible, and thus, no bots. If you suffer through the early part, it's great in the end.

Been playing WoW with my boyfriend, leveling characters up at the same rate, and it's been fun++. Admittidly, if we need to do instances, we have to get a gang of idiots together, and christ, some of them really are terrible. I had a guy hitting on my before, it was.. interesting. I lied and told him I was a man and he shut up.heffaloop wrote:Thats why you need friends to play with you :pSortelli wrote:My biggest gripe about MMORPGs is similar. Heh, I play in the asian sever ERO, not IRO. I'm aware that Iro has significantly less bots. But the moderators in ERO are extremely slack, hence the massive number of bots. I havent played in a year, but after the amatsu update things didnt really change much. Maybe the botters became smarter.Gengar003 wrote:Wow? What map were *you* on? CoH kinda felt far too repetative after a while, which was a shame, cause character creation was extra fun. I played a monkey. Can't help but wonder if Villians will add a bit more spice.. Might get the trial again when it's out, cause it was an ace idea, but the flaws kinda annoyed me to the point of apathy.Sortelli wrote:Me and Shannon did that all through CoH, but she doesn't like WoW.
But I gotta say, having a girlfriend who plays video games with you is like reaching the promised land. We're probably going back to CoH when Villains launches.
Ah. Someone posted on my guild's forums a video taken in mRO... of the kobold field west of Geffen... this one person on a knight filming it saw, at any given time, at LEAST three other characters (usually knights) all of which teleported away as soon as they came on the screen... THAT map was literally saturated with bots.Humbug wrote: Heh, I play in the asian sever ERO, not IRO. I'm aware that Iro has significantly less bots. iRO doesn't have much of a bot problem. Mostly just bylan island, as far as I can tell. I dunno, I don't level in the low-level spots anymore.

If only I was rich (and had a credit card), baby. *Sighs*
I play Anarchy Online, though. It's old, but it's free until 2006, and that's really all I need.
And as for the interacting with 2-brain-cell players: I'm horribly chat-shy and have a tendency to panic and run away each time someone else contacts me in a game. Doing missions in a team would be about as pleasureable for me as being stomped on my a 30-feet gorilla. Yay for antisocial!

About the guys issue. Frankly on the euro-pvp servers i play i find most people have learned to assume that female-characters are guys, so i have seen very little of that. You might be bothered by that a bit, but it's ok if you don't want to be hit on.
So if you make them respect you for your PvE/PvP skill and teamwork before you tell them you're a girl, it should be ok, even if you play a female toon.
Basicly the servers with the biggest such problem seem to be the RP servers (and they're supposed to be the most mature, lol) although most people hitting on you will be more or less in character it can be a bit annoying especially around the (in)famous Goldshire Inn.
Or choose a dwarf female noone hits on those
