It's true. There's not much you CAN do to make Superman's costume look ok in a realistic portrayal. I mean...the colors alone are so bad, and add to that the skin tight spandex and the wearing of red underwear on the outside....it spells disaster.

Not that other superheros havn't suffered from bad costumes. I mean, there's Batman and the infamous bat nipples. I think they're going to completly revamp Wonder Woman's outfit for the Joss Whedon movie that they're doing. Definately needed, I might add. But Superman is stuck with his get up since it's so iconic.

So true. And that's what sucks so hard. How do you update the standard? How do you remake the original? He's like the format people use when making superheroes. Whether to copy him, or make a superhero the opposite of him. I'm sure the movie makers are in a predicament, cuz they know how big a deal the movie is to the Superman universe.

That and that if this movie bombs, the studio will be short 200 million dollars in production costs.....that's alot of money.

Hey, it can't be worse than Daredevil. ;}

The Hulk was pretty bad, too...

Actually, I wonder what the good-bad comic movie ratios are like lately. Let's see...
Xmen- great
Xmen 2- even better
Spiderman- great
Spiderman 2- great
Hellboy- great
Batman Begins- Fan-friggin'-tastic.

Fantastic 4- middle of the road, hedging on bad

Hulk- kinda not-good
Daredevil-aweful
Catwoman- normally don't judge 'les I've seen it, but aweful regardless

I have seen neither Sin City nor The Punisher, so I can't say on those. Overall? Odds are good, but I'd be safe and say it's half and half.

What would REALLY rock would be not a movie, but an animated series of Powers. Like it'll happen, eh? But I can wish.

Lets not forget
Constantine: not so good
Elektra: fight with Catwoman for crappy movie of the century.

Aaah yes, thankee Lego. ;} Knew I'd missed some. I might still see Constantine at some point, even though Keanu Reeves playing John Constantine makes my brain curl up in the fetal position and cry.

If you mean the one Col referred to, look to the crotch.

If you didn't mean that one, uh, well. Oops! Gotta get back to work.

No, I flipped through those including snakecrotch there, personally I think the studio version is the best of the lot. Aside from the Captain Planet one.

By studio version I mean the unaltered photo.

Keanu Reeves is terrible, of course, but the movie itself actually managed to be pretty decent, I thought.
Existence is a series of catastrophes through which everything barely but continually survives.

His red drawers from the studio pic do need to ride higher, because he's currently all torso. But whatever the kids are doing, I guess.

I guess the superman figure is the one thing that Hollywood can rightfully bastardize in its adaption of the material.

Low-rise undies are where it's at.

They usually cover where it's at.
