Yep. If it's someone he's met before, it's the kid who -stole- his sword in the first place. Hmmm. Where's his wakadu stick? He's back in what's left of his original gear; if it wasn't in his luggage he should have it.
I don't see how else he's going to take on three Redcaps.
I'm getting fed up with the cops at the Tumbledowns station. The chief is bad enough, laughing at the kid, and Mulharney still wants to arrest him. Neither one of them is apparently interested in finding out -how- he ended up naked in a gated community in the -first- place. Looks like that station is where they send all the cops who aren't -quite- incompetent enough to fire.

Kerry.....that's not the police chief....that's the Adjudicator or "Judge". He may be laughing, but he's also giving Quentyn a break telling Mulharney to just let him go.....he's been through enough.
Yeah, Quentyn's in the local can for the 3rd time in as many days if not less and in this case the judge just thinks the whole thing's funny as hell and isn't going to assess any fines.....Obviously our hero didn't have any "visible means of support" and couldn't pay any fines......so what then....life in jail?
And I think Quentyn may have told them about losing his clothes to the Red Caps....or maybe not.....I don't know. But the judge was pretty cool about it.....let him laugh....he cut Quentyn loose over Mulharney's objections.

I wonder what they'll say if they find out who Quentyn is...
Both a heart and a brain are necessary for survival. Without one, the other will quickly perish.
"I decline to accept the end of man [...] Man will not only endure, but prevail...." - William Faulkner
"I can say—not as a patriotic bromide, but with full knowledge of the necessary metaphysical, epistemological, ethical, political and aesthetic roots—that the United States of America is the greatest, the noblest and, in its original founding principles, the only moral country in the history of the world." - Ayn Rand

They'll probably wonder how the hell he's survived this long.Doink wrote:I wonder what they'll say if they find out who Quentyn is...
Of course Mulharney, being a typical egotistical cop will resent the hell out of some outsider and a "civilian" to boot possibly doing the job better than he can......he'll be PO'd just at the thought of Quentyn even helping.
Slightly off topic.....
Ever wonder why the cops work so hard to catch a so called "vigilante killer".....someone that's going around whacking bad guys....and only established bad guys? The news will say that the authorities are concerned over 'copy-cat' shooters and want this person to turn themselves in before there are more deaths etc. etc. etc...ad nauseum. Well that's part of the reason....but the REAL reason the cops want this guy off the streets is that he's making them look bad.
I learned this from several retired cops. The funny thing is that they actually appreciate what the guy's doing....ridding the streets of scum that they can't seem to keep in prison for any appreciable length of time. But....the cop ego is bruised and that cannot be allowed to stand.....so they go after this guy.....if only to soothe their ruffled feathers.....and to get a "vicious killer" off the streets....which makes them look good again.....presto....cop esteem restored.
No......I'm not against cops....I've just worked around and with them long enough know how they think.......even as a licensed BG......some cops don't like ANYone without "the magic badge" to have anything near their authority.

And his dart gun; I assume all of this Questor stuff got dumped by the gang as "useless junk"?Kerry Skydancer wrote:Where's his wakadu stick? [It's] back in what's left of his original gear; if it wasn't in his luggage he should have it.
Seems like Squidge would be of some help here (I take it this part of town doesn't have the smelly cakes?)I don't see how else he's going to take on three Redcaps.
And that bit about "nobody to help me" - I assume his pride's keeping him from turning to the Millfolks, or the folks at the school where Kes is?

(checks back on the older strips) Doh. I missed the title. You're right. As a judge, he's pretty cool.Sharuuk wrote:Kerry.....that's not the police chief....that's the Adjudicator or "Judge". Mulharney still needs a sense-of-humor transplant. He was actually standing there with a straight face after telling the story about the leaf skirt. Hopeless, he is.

That's a good question. Although I don't know if it's pride or concern about how potenially dangerous and unpredictable WC is.....he most difinitely doesn't want that knowledge to get out.....and only he, Master Irons and Kestral really know the truth.RDB wrote:And that bit about "nobody to help me" - I assume his pride's keeping him from turning to the Millfolks, or the folks at the school where Kes is? And the Millfolks can't really help.....at least not at this point. Maybe somewhere further down the story line Lord M may have some clout for the inevitable political scandal that's got to materialize sooner or later.
