Of Topic: On the Cindy Sheehan matter...

So, I suppose everyone here's at least heard about this woman, Cindy Sheehan, who's son died in Iraq, and now she's demanding to speak with President Bush about it?

Now.. I sympathize with her pain, I really do. ...But her son chose to join the army, and chose to go to fight alongside his army buddies in Iraq... She's not doing her son's memory justice by basically spitting on what he was fighting for.

...At least, that's how I feel about it. What do you guys think?

I don't know the full story, (link please?) but I've heard a bit about it... I think it's ridiculous. Her son isn't the only one to die in Iraq. Maybe she should talk to a therapist, or join a support group of *other* moms who've lost their kids in Iraq... Despite what she seems to believe, she's not a special case, and shouldn't be treated like she is. Everyone who loses someone in a war the government is involved in can't talk, whine, complain, or otherwise directly address the president about it.

Harsh, yes, would I be pissed if I were in her position? Yes. But I would know, though I might not willingly accept it at first, that I was being a nuisance and an overall whiny bastard. I'd tell myself I was grief-stricken and deserved it, but everyone does, but not everyone can, so we have to live with it.

It's even worse than that. Bush -had- met with her, at least as part of a group of relatives, back when it had happened. She wants a -second- meeting, apparently because she didn't act like enough of a moonbat the first time.

At best, she's a grieving mother who's gone off the deep end and is being hideously exploited by the leftwing loonies. At worst, she's deliberately using her son's death to push a previously existing lefty agenda. Her husband's divorcing her over the whole business.

Divorcing her? That's a cruel-hearted, bastardly thing to do. Unless, of course, he's already tried to reason with her and she's just not in touch with reality. (which i suspect is the case.) In *that* case, good for him.

She has gone full tilt gonzo for the left. Making crazy statements and looney assumptions, she is now the media darling for the Hate Bush crowd and every socialist cause out there.

The neighbors aren't too happy about the protesters either.

I can't confirm this, but the story I heard was that her son had completed his tour of military duty, and then re-upped, knowing he would go to Iraq. It sounds like he, personally, as an adult, thought there was a good reason to go. I can only respect his choice - as should his mother.

Instead, the poor distraught woman is acting as though her infant son had been taken from his cradle and slain without reason, and thus she has been turned into a political pawn.

there was a (spoof) interview of osama bin laddin talking about his opinions on the (then upcoming) election of bush vs kerry.

he at first didn't think he would be able to vote but then got found by two volunteers from the kerry admin and got registered as a citizen of cincinati!

he continues to go on about health care and asks how either candidate plans on paying for it, especially after his organization throws the american economy into bankruptcy!

To expand slightly on what Kerry just said, in an interview shortly after said meeting, she stated emphatically that he (Bush) had been very warm and caring, and I think he may have joined them in prayer, but I'm just a little fuzzy on that point. The upshot is that she was aparently quite satisfied with the first meeting.

Now she says that he made light of her's and other parents loss, which has been proven to be total BS by her own words.

I'd like to know what, or who set her off in this direction. I've heard from other news sources that she's always been the "loonie lefty" in her family and now THEY don't particularly want anything to do with her.

Whether or not it's true, I don't know......but I'd really like to know what triggered this 180 degree switch.

She might very well be literally out of her right mind. She's lost her son, and rather than being surrounded with people who will help her adjust and cope, she's surrounded by people that are gassing her up, feeding every little emotional upheaval for their own vicious selfcentered ends. What do they care if she goes into neurosis or even a total breakdown? Hell, if they drove her to suicide it would be a bonus for them!

*growls* If that's what happening, "friend" is not the word for what they are.

You do not turn a distraught mother into a political activist after her son dies. You do not prey on her emotions, her grief for the loss of a child.

If this is the case, these people have no honor. I would deny such people a proper burial if it were up to me. They do not deserve it.

They are liberals who despise Bush and will do ANYTHING to undermine this administration.....they have absolutely NO LIMITS. NOTHING is too low or perverse to them if it means embarrassing or even better, impeaching George W. Bush.

With no morals of any percievable content.....what do you expect?

Well, yeah, but thats a dog. Dogs can get some strange names and thats ok. So can Cats. But to name some kid after a Norse (?) god... I dunno, it just seems out of place. I dont exactly go around with my buddies Zeus Odin, and Horus. It just seems kinda odd. I wouldn't want that name.

Although it is better then "Frankincense"

One of the guys at work is named Jesus, but he pronounces it Hay-soos.

Anyway - that just shows that some people do name their kids after a Deity!

That is actually typical of Latin Americans. "Hessoos" is the Spanish pronunciation of "Jesus". There was once an Argentinian government official whose name was "Espiritu Santo" = Holy Spirit.

And there is a person named "Jesus Tax", only you pronounced his name "Hesoos Tash"
