I looked up ComicGenesis info on legel stuff, but I thought I'd ask here as well.
I understand that video game frames and most artwork is a no-no, but what about referencing such? Like probably most people here, my characters play video games. The other thing is that one of my characters runs a radio show and refers to bands, and in a not always flattering light. Is that acceptable?
Also, I orginally had a Donnie Darko poster (clip art from some site) as a background. I wisely removed it. But I was wondering if I showed half, or a third or modified such if that would be accptable.
Thanks.
Jin-roh.

Correction: you may use sprites (characters from videogames) in your comic. However, should the legal copyright owners request your comic to be taken down because of this, ComicGenesis will take it down, no question, no warning. So it's a "use at your own risk" kind of deal. However, I am not aware of any moves by game companies to have sprite comics taken down. *shrug* Again, your own risk.
Apart from that, AFAIK again, referencing a work of art (such as showing a poster in the background) falls under fair use.
