BTW, anyone know what happened to the Dixie Chicks? I haven't heard anything by them in a while on my local station. Think maybe people just stopped buying their records?

8) Well, if so, lesson learned. Do not mess with the power of the consumer. They'll leave you broke and penniless quickly if you try to screw them over.

No....the lesson learned is "Don't Mess With Texas."
Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?' John 11: 25-26

Yup, the free market works wonders.
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

You know, I thought the rule number one would be, Never insult the home of one of your biggest markets, especially if said market is VERY proud of where they live. And rightly so.

They are the Dixie CHICKS, think about it. They are not very bright.

It's really kind of sad. I actually quite enjoyed their music. I used to have their album, "Fly." It was well-sung, had a catchy sense of humor, and the tunes were toe-tapping.

But ever since they decided to go over to France and insult the President of their own country in a time of war, solely to kiss up to a crowd of frenchmen in the hopes of improving their European ratings, I can't listen to their album anymore.
"What was that popping noise ?"

And apparently, neither can their fans.

Another thing to learn from this is that you do not kiss up to other people if you wanna be a country music star. Why is this?

Because country folk respect someone who's authentic. And you can't be authentic if you kiss up to someone just to boost your ratings, especially if it means going against things you've said before, or the beliefs of the majority of your fan base.

The Dixie Chicks were doing fine. Then they decided to get political. And now, they are no more.

Such is the way of pathetic fools who refuse to be authentic.

And then the dumb broads screamed censorship and how their rights were being violated. They had their freedom to say what they wanted, and we used ours to ruin them. Remember kiddies, freedoms have consequences. You can shoot your trap off, but you may tick people off.

I got the biggest laugh out of their trying to say that Bush was personally censoring them by having the FCC threaten radio stations with their licenses if they played their songs and the IRS threaten music shops with audits if they sold their CD's or some such BS.

Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Neal Boortz and Bill O'Reilly just had a field day with that little gem of intellingence.....the more they opened their mouths, the deeper the hole they dug......it was glorious.

The weekend after their little stunt, the local skeet range I belong to had a "Dixie Chicks Appreciation Charity Shoot". A great majority of the members were REALLY PO'd with the promo :x until we learned what "appreciation" meant.....For $5 a round you could take your trusty 12Ga and blast D.C. CD's like clay pigeons with the proceeds going to the local Muscular Dystrophy Association and Ronald McDonald House. :D :D

They raised about $12000+ cause people from all over the area were donating DC CDs and even one of the local privately owned music stores donated their entire stock......it was just too cool.

Moral of the story: "Your fans can make you, your fans can break you."

A perfect example of the title of Laura Ingram's best seller book "Shut-up and Sing".
