Yeah, Mr. Hat, spill it. This can't be about this week's update; you're a card-carrying Unit Zero detractor!

Okay, how's this: for our final project, my drama class has decided to write and perform an original play. Anybody got any ideas for a plot? ^^

(I wouldn't feel quite right taking someone's ideas for this, but knowing this forum I'm going to guess that most of the suggestions won't be suitable for a high-school production anyway. :P )

If you are stuck for an idea then go with being controversial.

Since the Mayor of San Francisco started marrying gay couples, have gay issues been advanced or hindered?

Okay fine, we'll combine the ideas.

Your task is to come up with a concept for a one-act play about gay issues. Discuss.

Here's a thought - a one scene play centered around a chess match between two people. As they play, they discuss the issue of gay marriage: one for and the other against. Point and counterpoint should follow as each one makes a good case for their own position. Other characters should wander in to observe and occassional comment, but should be cartoons or gross characterizations of other groups and interests (use signs if you have to) and their antics just background filler as they enter and exit.

Optional point would be to correlate the discussion to what is right, fair and/or just (which are not the same).

I really like Andrick's idea, though I'd like to add a suggestion to it... let the scene end with the game in a stalemate, and each congradulating the other on a good match. Rather then predictably using the play to show one view triumphing over the other, let the play instead be purely about the debate, without trying to preach which is the "right" side.

Hrmm. I'm not sure if Andrick implied this or not, but I think it would be cool to structure the chess game to the argument too.. Each time someone is making a strong case, they are playing a strong game, with the lead switching sides. You could even interject their moves inbetween lines, kinda like punctuation. Of course, that might be overdoing it, but it's still a thought.

Bah, you people disappoint me. I had finally decided to come back and explain, but you've taken this topic and twisted it in to your own creepy design.

So your options are to either go on not knowhing what brought this on, or to create another topic stating blind love for all.

Chop chop. ^,~

Bah, it's your own fault for letting this go without checking back for a week, Hat-Kun. :P
