True Meaning of Fish
http://utlt.keenspace.com/d/20040310.html
In this strip, some people are holding a fish above their heads and shouting its name. My lady and I were wondering if this meant anything in particular or just people (and RH) being weird. Have a nice day.

Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?' John 11: 25-26

Note that it was actually a sippy cup in the shape of a fish.
I don't think it was ever explained. Speculation was that RHJ had been to a convention where something like this happened. Sometimes at conventions, people do random, weird things that others in attendance can only puzzle over.

This occurred while I was in LA for a convention.
From what I understand, the fellows with the fish-shaped sippy cup had picked it up while at a sushi bar in town, and had gotten a case of the sillies and begun waving it at everyone they saw, and yelling "FIIISH!"
Conventions being what they are, when they got back to the hotel they soon had a crowd following along behind chanting along.

And it is PRECISELY that kind of wierdness; totally off the wall, but completely harmless, that makes cons so much fun!RHJunior wrote:This occurred while I was in LA for a convention.

Well, thanks I guess. I was kind of hoping for some deep philosphosical meaning. Oh well, thanks for the information.

Yup. Con funk is one of the hazards you must deal with. Now which has the worse funk, Sci-Fi cons, Anime cons, or Furry cons?Wayfarer wrote:The deep philosophical meaning of that being, "It would be a really good idea if you would go use some"?Squeaky Bunny wrote:For that you have to wait for someone to start yelling SOAP!Madmoonie wrote:Well, thanks I guess. Honesty is the best policy, but insanity is a better defence.
Not that I have ever been to any cons, but I would assume that full body fur suits would generate the worst "con funk". Although if one were dressed as a skunk one could claim that it was intentional.Squeaky Bunny wrote:Yup. Con funk is one of the hazards you must deal with. I have had no experience with "Con Funk" I've only attended a few comicons here in Pittsburgh, and most of these were held during winter.
However "Barracks Funk" is a completely different animal: Those warm summer nights after a long day's training out in the hot sun. Nothing like the aroma of 30 guys worth of vintage laundry, especailly when the washers are broke!

Anime funk, those people are just freaky.
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.
I've been attending Furry cons since about CF5, back in the mid-90's, and I think the "con funk" situation has gotten somewhat better over time. A major source of it was people who would intentionally plan their con budget around the notion that they could wear the same clothes for four days straight and simply sleep in the hotel lobby, or catnap all over the hotel one step ahead of con security and the hotel staff... and both the hotels and the con staff are somewhat less tolerant of this practice nowadays.
Also, several of the bigger cons have been held at the same hotels long enough now that it isn't as difficult to get sufficient numbers of towels and extra soap out of the housekeeping staff as it used to be.

Ever see these Hippie Cons? The stench could be used as a bio weapon.
