And there we have it. Poor Tuck didn't realize what they wanted 'models' for. Thelma might forgive him, but I'll bet Hortense won't.

No wonder Thelma seemed so steamed with Tuck.

Given how he out and out forced her to sign up against her strongly expressed objections, it wouldn't be unusual in real life for her to walk away from him for this.

Hopefully Ralph will have a bit more mercy on Tuck (and us!) and not kill off their relationship over this misunderstanding. After all, if Thelma has to visit Tuck in the hospital because of his finding out what he accidentally did, he will get some sympathy points with her.

In reviewing the dialog in panel 3 again ("into doing a photo shoot"), I wonder if (G-d forbid) a photo shoot actually took place?

And this, fellow netizens, is why one should always carry a magnifying glass, to read the fine print,.... or at least to pay attention to the main body of the article!

Nice take on Tuck RH, BTW

Porno shoot???

No, it doesn't :x I find it hard to believe porno mags/films go trolling for models/actors via beauty contests, especially in presumed "red state" areas, and I don't know how a legit model search would degenerate into this either :(

I can understand the "medical bills" comment, but I'll be interested in hearing the explanation for the $10k "fees"...

As I mentioned in another thread, it could be tuition to modeling school. Another tuition possiblity would be 'bouncer'/bodygaurd school... not nearly as intimidating as a 500+ lb Polar Bear, but all the more effective if thing DO come to violence (they'll never expect it...). And besides what she lacks in non-contact intimidation she could make up for in charm. At singles bar <>'s represent her thoughts:"Look sir, I know your just having some fun <but only fun for YOU...>, but most of the gals around here ain't used to your levels of enthusiasm <'enthusiasm... is one word for it you lech> . I tell you what though, based on personal experience, I bet if you give them a bit of a break from your...hmmm... strong personality <not to mention your much stronger breath... peeeyu!> they might <well anythings possible> like you a bit better if you come back tommorrow <I'll give you the benefit of the doubt... maybe your only a completely idiot when you are drunk out of your mind... there could be a nice guy under all that booze... anything is possible>."... OK so I am not the most skilled person at the fine art of diplomacy, but I think you all get the idea.
Another possiblity is legal fees, although if she is sueing the contest or something, generally the lawyer gets a cut of the settlement. Then again Thelma might be sure enough of winning, and getting lots that she would prefer a flat rate... or she might be the defendant...

While Thelma may be a bit steamed with Tuck for forcing her into this in the first place, she can't possibly believe that he knew ANYthing about a porno spread. It's just not in his make-up....and besides, he loves her too much to do something like that.

She'll forgive him. Whether Hortense does or not is neither relevent nor important. Tuck is a man and therefore incapable of doing anything right in her eyes.

And I agree that a legit model search wouldn't be trolling for the next porn queen thru an open competition....especially in what appears to be a bible belt red state. I think Thelly and the model search people may have gotten scammed by someone posing as a some sort of fashion group or modeling agency rep. They got Thelma back to the shoot location, tried to get her to strip and she beat the ever-lovin' sh*t outta somebody(s).

First post on this particular board, and I have to say... Wow, what a comic for today. Definitely not something I was expecting, and it will definitely be interesting to see this works out.
Here's hoping they'll mend teh fences and all will be forgiven (and lessons learned all around.
Magius out.

I knew it'd be something like this. The expressions! XD

My guess is that Thelma beat the guy that tried to scam her into this so horribly that she's in danger of being arrested or sued herself. ;p

Barring some really good explanations I can see this as the one tome Hortense would gladly cook a meal for a man: "So Tuck, how would you like your crow? Flame broiled, fried?... I know, how about boiled!"

Although, Thelma's positive attitude upon leaving seemed too genuine. If the model shoot was openly trolling for porn girls, I don't think she would have gone as gladly.

Alas, poor Tuck. We knew him, Horatio.

Nasty scam that one, don't you think?
