Check out Cy-Boar

Post by Graz73 »

Please have a look at my comic, Cy-Boar.

http://www.cy-boar.com

THis is a story that I've been drawing since 1989. I finally got all of the content organized and scanned over 200 pages of story. So now I am going through this huge backlog and coloring each page and re-lettering the text. I am on a schedule to update it every Thursday.

So, please take a look and let me know what you think.
I'm also looking for:
1) Sites to cross link
2) feedback on my site design
3) more votes! (of course)

I dig the art style. Nice inking, but I unfortunately have littl time to read comics these days, maybe next week.

You've put a lot of work into this and it shows. You've got a nice style and great use of color. Some of the poses look stiff. You need to loosen them up and try to make your people look a little more natural. Your inking is very nice and the background detail is good. Not too keen on the story of a cyborg boar but that's just me (I grew up in the comic book era of Teenage, mutant, radioactive, cyborg, furry, teenage animals with bad attitudes and it's hard to remain objective) but your writing is good. This is one I'll check up on every couple of weeks.

You should so make it Beebop! That would be great!
Not really.
I'll check this out when I get a free moment (aka late at night waiting for something that isn't a rerun on Adult Swim)

Your art style is good, it's evident you put a lot of work into your drawing. However the characters look a little stiff, and you might want to think about more dynamic camera angles. The story flows from panel to panel easily.

Storywise, I wonder if you could move it along faster. But it's only on page six. These are just minor quibbles. All and all it's good.

And there's an e at the end of "Shakespeare"

I've been drawing Cy-Boar since 89. Back then, we heard a lot of people comparing him to Bebop. And we always tried hard to make sure that besides being both boar-men, that they were very different.

Also, these first few pages were drawn back in 89. That's why they are stiff and all. My newer comics are better. Look at a recent one here:

The story I drew starts on page 12 of this anthology book...

I like it.

I think it's pretty damn cool you've been working on this since 89. I'll have to take a reading when I get off work.

That's damn cool. I'm glad someone started with a bigger backlog than me (3 years, 300 strips). I don't think the characters look stiff like other people are saying, I think they look great. The comic feels late 80-ish in a way, if that makes sense. It's a cool idea to recolor/retext this ancient stuff. I'm surprised you're only doing one page a week... at 200 pages that would be about 4 years to post them all =o If you're still drawing cy-boar then that means you have to wait 4 years before anyone will see your stuff... madness! But, whatever floats your boat. /linked

I wasn't making a comparison, really. Just having a chuckle, cause I'd forgotten Bebop existed.

What everyone said here, before me, is all the same things I would say. :)

I'm actually posting 3 pages a week so far. (Each thursday, I add 3 more) I'd update the site every day if I thought I could keep up that pace, but I know that I can't, so I'll be proud if I can keep doing 3 per week...
