Well if this thing is all connected and a hive mind then you do know how to defeat it don't you?

Kill a part of a Hive mind and you just kill it.

HURT parts of a hive mind and they all share the pain become less effective.

So severely wound each in turn but don't kill it until you kill the whole thing.

It's a rat pentagram. Beither could have used more--rats are cheap--but he used five. Nice. . .

I don't think a candle is going to work on this one: It's an actual physical creature, not a shadow-rat. Of course, Quentyn may have other reasons for lighting the candle. As for the rat king being smarter than our hero, I don't think so.

Nevertheless, Quentyn is beyond being in over his head; he's hit the bottom of the ocean and started digging.

I suppose Rat a la flambe will work just fine, as the rats are, or were, living creatures. Of course, I do not have any data on the resistances of RAB-Made Rat Kings, re-tail value $99.99.

I think its for warding off any shadow-rats that pop up for lunch. Same basic reason that was in the book he read.

If it has fur, flesh and anything elce flammable, it'll roast quite nicely
