Hi all.
I'm new here, before I join Keenspace, I'd like to ask a couple of questions about what I will find.
I read about "sotrylines" managing in the faq, but I did not understand if it's what I'm looking for, because I did not find any webcomic with more than one storyline. Can you tell me where I can find a webcomic, here on keenspace, that does?
Second question: is the calendar the only way to manage the archives? Is it customizable (format, color, size)? Isn't there a simple "paging" system showing only the number of pages the user has draw? You know, like: "jump to page number: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 etc" without refer to the date?
Thankyou and sorry for the engRish!

I have a storyline dropdown just below the comic on each page, if that's what you're looking for. I think there's half a dozen storylines in there, and extra pages as well. Unless you're talking about having different storylines such as completely different characters and stuff...I don't know then.
I use the calendar in the archives page, as well as a small one on each comic page. I hear it is customisable, but I haven't delved into that side of it. There could well be a system of numbering like you've asked, but I am not versed well enough in html and php stuff to know this.
Don't worry. Some real help will be along shortly...

I'm not sure what you're looking at either, as "Storylines" goes, but I also have a storyline dropdown on my pages. You can also do a button that jumps to the start of the current storyline, I just choose not to have it currently. That would also be a way you could jump to specific points in the comic, though it would quickly get unmanageable if you did it for every page (plus you have to do it by hand). Setting it for every ten pages would be easy enough, though. I have mine set for the start of each chapter, more or less, and a second html page linking to the start of each chapter and every special page separately. Don't know a way to generate just a list of pages, but the calendar sort of does that anyway, and pretty easily... hope that helps a bit. ^^
Thankyou! he storyline thing it's just what I was looking for: being able to write more than one story. My comic is not in strips, it's quite like the stories in comicbooks, and like in comicbooks there is a lot of different issues with a beginning and an end.
BTW, the calendar thing is not that important, but it should be useful if improved with a plain list of pages. Keeping dates and referring every page to a specific day is important for strips I think, but not for cases like mine, where I can update a page everyday during holidays, and one per week or worse in other times, or maybe just write one story in one or two months, then decide to take a break for the next six months, and then start a new story. In that case I'll have a page full of empty and useless calendars between the calendars that contains the two storylines. Just an advice!
Thanks for the answers!
ps/edit: something like that: http://fourmages.keenspace.com/archives.html . I think this is done by hand. It should be useful to have something doing that automatically (even without the page titles, a bit useless) that can be choose instead of the calendars. Don't think I'm here only to make annoying pretensions, it's just an idea, and BTW it's the only thing Keenspace laks!
bye!
