Well, as I said, I didn't actually think all of that at the time... I just guessed that the reason she was upset was because he wasn't marrying her and read on. That long, rambling paragraph was more my after-the-fact justification of why I didn't get the joke the way it was intended. >.>

I actually just thought it was one of his aunts. One of the snooty type of rich relatives who leave you nothing in their will, and think that nothing you do is good enough. Why isn't there caviar? This wine isn't old enough. Etc.

Heh, well I guess you were right then!

Thanks go to Richard Wyatt for my avatar which he drew in Dansk Folly.

Okay, yeah, some explanations of my horrible pacing are in order.
No, it's not the pacing. It's the lack of backstory.

Allan, think about how Jennifer was doing PDH: sequential-art-snapshots of a scene in the story, with footnotes below explaining any details, backstory, or other supporting information.

(This is pretty embarassing, but I'm basically calling this a last-inning Seinfeldian shark-jump.)

and the placement of this strip -really- drags down the quality of the work here.
No, not at all. Since this is Rick we're talking about here, it's quite likely that this female-appearing person could be (a) an android; (b) a transsexual relative; (c) a drag-queen gay male relative; (d) a female relative; (e) a male relative that Rick zapped into female form and never unzapped for various reasons. A quick subtitle of, "Rick's drag-queen uncle is also a major attitude queen and kitchen queen," would say volumes.
allan_ecker wrote:I also thought it would be cute to end with this little scene showing the two sneaking off after the wedding for a quiet cuddle in the surrounding forest.
Simple, then: a subtitle stating, "Wherein Saundra and Volair take everyone's advice to, 'Get a Room,' and sneak off after the ceremony for some quality time."

There, see. No need to beat your talented self up. :)

Which can be awfully uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering." -- Dr. Who

Aheh. I'll resist the typical "but I'm an ARTIST. Beating ourselves up is what we DO." and point out that if I were in the habit of applying footnotes (as Jennifer has done, adding yet another wrinkle to the definition of Sequential Art) this would be the perfect solution.

And, since the UHCD is going to be ANNOTATED, that will do nicely enough to warrant adding a credit to the already profuse thanks I'll be heaping on you forumites when the ruddy thing finally gets finished.

February's out the window as a UHCD release date; I've got to present to CDADIC that month and Unit Zero's buffer is lagging. (Lagging, as in it only goes out to March at this point, but as we discussed earlier, UZ runs at a significant deficit.)
