I do admit that the lengerie thing was done rather well, especially with Hortense in her Dr. Furter outfit. She should save it for Halloween.

They way I see it, Hortense has a hard time, being a reptile lady. Simply put, furry is cute, scales...not so much. Remember how Lily cuddled Velvet back in UTLT? Do you think she would've done the same for a lizard? No one's given Morty a hug lately, have they? Reptiles, insects, and vultures, are not animals that we'd think of as being cute under most circumstances.
This is all speculation here, but I think Hortense's deal is that she resents that most standards of beauty revolve around furries and that she has to alter her appearance (the wig and whatnot) in order to fit in, or at least not stand out as conspicuously. So she resents the image of women and resents herself for playing along.
Personally, I'm usally more wary of women like the squirrel girls than women like Hortense.
I hate how narrow our cultural definitions of beauty are and how many people, especially women, get sucked in to forcing themselves to conform to it.
