Prophecy

Post by Labrusca »

The prophet spoke, saying "The great god Ralph has sent signs and portents; great power is building to lay low the usurper boyfriend and the evil truckdriver; the demon children Tagger and Eugene shall be the tools of the god's servants, Nip and Tuck; they shall bring Ralph's might to bear, making the enemies of his servants as infants, reducing them to weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth." Thus sayeth the prophet. (God willin' and the creek don't rise).

Hello, Darkness, my old friend.

That reminds me of a song I like, "The Sound of Silence," by Simon & Garfunkel.
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets
are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls."
And whisper'd in the sounds of silence.

That was a classic song indeed. I can't count the times I've played it on my home stereo.
I'm not sure it really holds the right tone of humor and revenge that'd be combined in the plotline suggested by labrusca though. In fact, now that you've got me thinking about it, there isn't very much funny-revenge music out there unless you go with folk or country.

Something like "Harper Valley PTA" maybe.
I'm more an 80's rock kind of guy, but I spent 10 years in Kansas and learned to appreciate at least some country-style songs. I can imagine one of the characters in Nip - n - Tuck rocking out to "High-tech Redneck".

High tech redneck

You know where I could find the melody to that. In a curious way, this sorta describes me. Family's from the Virginia mountains and I'm a redneck at heart......but I'm also a bit of a geek.......LOVE technology and all the toys it creates.

So yeah....I'm a high-tech redneck and day-amm per-owd uv it!
