[...unWARP!!!]

Good evening.

Yup, she's definitely an Erethizon dorsatum.

And those quill injuries must hurt like bleep...

Beads

Beads.

Definitely beads.

While I normally don't find beaded hair all that attractive, in her case it's about the only viable option.
That and maybe some sort of coloring.

And all of the people some of the time
But you can't fool all of the people all of the time.

I have little or no sense of fashion (style... sometimes, fashion, no...), so I can't comment on the validity of those choices. I will however say that if that route were to be taken the color(s) involved would have to be chosen carefully. While traffic cone orange might offer certain practical benefits, I rather think that the psychological effects would be detrimental. And of course, blue fur dye should be avoided as cliche...

It looks like they're going to need some gloves.

Plate mail gauntlets are your best bet.

I beleive that RL pet hedgehogs may be handled without gloves as long as one is careful and very "polite". Working from this, I would suspect that the only problem here is that the barretts had "spring loaded" the situation. Doing her hair shouldn't be much harder than taking cuttings from a rose bush.

P.S. Trivia quiz: Hunting of porcupines is illegal in some areas. The reasoning for this is rather unique. What is it? (see below for a hint)

Hint: If this law, at least in the simple version I have stated it, was followed without exception, then that would negate the entire point of the law.

The story I read was that RL porcupines are slow to reproduce, are attracted to human campsites by the salt we sweat, and easily killed, with little market value as a food animal and even less as a hunting-sport prey. Since any hungry human could easily pick up a stick and whack its head in, it was decided that they'd be left as a sort of self-renewing "emergency ration" for any lost and starving hunters or hikers.

That's what I heard too.

But back to our story:
I guess hair relaxer works too... actually I was wondering if such a thing existed but wasn't sure enough to say anything. Since she doesn't seem to be in need of her defenses this shouldn't be a problem (OTOH... how quickly does the effect wear off??). I wonder if they will need something like wire cutters for the quills to give her a haircut (if they aren't just going to comb/braid/whatever it).

And, Voila! Her parents come looking for the 'beauticians' with a shotgun. :o

Thelma's success so far with that hair relaxer must have made her happy. There's a sproing in hair step!

It's not the same pun, it just uses the same words... Pronounced differently!

Add a Cockney accent ala the swamp folk and drop the "H's" so it's 'enry 'iggens. Also, it'd probably be "woit".

"Just you woit 'enry 'iggens, just you woit."

(I played Higgens in "Pygmalion" in college.)

Man do I feel old now.....!
