Artist needed!

Post by Anvil »

The artist I'm looking for, sadly I cannot pay, so volunteers only. Think of the free advertising. The things I need aren't very complicated. I'm in need of someone who has a skill at celtic-like artwork and stylized animals such as you would find in Heraldry (Coats of arms, family shields, etc...). Simplified pictures of the creatures listed below. I can provide a description of the animal of course. A good imagination and ability to draw animals is required. If you've seen the opening of Shrek, with the pages of old text and type, that's kind of what I'm looking for, image-wise.

Coloring need not be required. Line art alone is fine. The project's due date of completion is about a year or a bit more before its ready to be released, so if you want to see about becoming the artist for this project, PM or email me (horsetuna@hotmali.com), so there's no rush.

Things that will be needed:

20 animal 'crests' (Note all of these are the 'mythical' animals): Banshee, Basilisk, Cereberus, Direwolf, Dragon, Ercinee, Gargoyle, Hippocampus, Hippogryph, Hydra, macedonian Horse, Manticore, Ogopogo, Phoenix, Pooka, Rakasha, Spinx, Unicorn.

Other things needed: Scenic view of mideval style land resembling the Highlands of Scotland, with castle, huts, etc...

Same as above, only as a banner.

That's all I can think of for now. If anyone is intrested, Let me know! This project shouldn't be too difficult, and the images aren't required to be large or greatly detailled, and there's no real hurry to get it done within the next few months.

Sounds interesting. I can't do it, unfortunately...the most I know about Celtic artwork is my abortive three-week attempt to learn how to do Celtic knotwork (abortive because after three weeks I lost the book).

I also might want to give you fair warning...most of the people in here already have full plates with their comic, any art projects on the side, and real life's requirements.

In fact, asking for an artist in here is not the best idea in the world if you want a remote chance of sucess, and I'm very, very sure that you're going to see exactly why.

Well, Like I said, its at least a year before I have to have all the art done. It'll probably be longer than that. And the images are hardly larger than avatars, at least the 20 animal ones. So two tiny images every month isn't much. I'm not expecting too many offers, but I decided to try anyways. No harm in trying right? :) I mean if I dont find one, then its no big deal.

And uh, I dont know what other thread you're talking about, really...

I can do celtic knotwork, but I just can't take anything that doesn't pay right now. Unemployment, and all.

No problem MM :) If I was able to pay someone, I would... maybe if worse comes to worse and I can't find anyone, but I wont make promises I can't keep. So volunteers, if any, then we'll see. Good luck getting a job!

Edited to add: This project is NOT a webcomic. No, once the 20 or so little images are done (And those are the biggest part I think. See first post for details) then its over with completely.

As well, I know lots of people here are doing their own comic of their own free will, so I'm willing to offer some money for doing these images. Yes, I'm willing to PAY for art (It is fair, and I do bug my own artist friends to charge for their art. ). I can't afford outrageous fees, but I'm willing to bargain.

Probably naming the thread "Artist needed!" wasn't the wisest of ideas. >_>
Afterall you don't really need an artist, do you? All you need is 20 artpieces.

So perhaps change the title to something like: "Weird kinda-guestart request.",
or perhaps even "Guest artist needed."
or "I need some art help." or "I need some art! Help!"
"I need a couple of pictures..."
"Could someone be as kind as to draw a couple of pictures for me?"
"celtic-like artwork and stylized animals wanted"
...

"1.Scan in high res 2.tweak with curves, levels or something to clean up the scan (or use channel mixer to remove blue pencil lines) 3.Add colour using a layer set to multiply. 4.Add wordbubbles and text as vector shapes. 5. Merge all layers. 6.resize to the web size. 7. Export/Save for Web" that's all I know about webcomicking.

I would've gone with "Sex! Now that I've got your attention..."
