Draw ABOL, earn one US dollar.

Post by Rkolter »

Yup, that's right. I have a bit of spare cash and I thought I'd spend it creatively.

Draw ABOL in your own style and submit the picture to this thread. The first twenty submissions will earn $1.00. I'll pay via paypal money transfer or by direct mailing, your choice.

I'm planning on doing a mural of the entries. I'll post the link to the mural as it develops on this thread.

The rules:

1) First twenty people who submit get a buck.
2) Give your name (real or pseudonym) and comic name, and website - the mural will include this info under your picture.
3) Payment via paypal (you lose a bit with paypal) or via regular mail if you prefer - pm me the needed info.
4) Please nothing worse than "R" rated (the only "critic" type rule).
5) Your image can be any size or dimension that does not exceed 400 pixels in width and height.

Entries should be posted to this thread (not emailed or pm'd).

I'll download images as they show up and send money as I get the payment info from you.

I'll be happy to include entries above 20, but at that point I'll have run out of dollars, so you'll be doing it for free.

A dollar, eh? Oh, what the heck, I'm not proud.

I don't know if this is "my" style, but here's a quick rendition of what ABOL might look like if it visited my strip...

Give the buck to charity. It's probably too much effort to bother getting it to Australia. I don't have a comic worth linking, but there's my homepage at...

http://www.between-worlds.com/

Edit: Since it's a mural, I can do a version without the border if you prefer. I just sorta tend to do graphic designy stuff on automatic. Image

I don't think I really want the dollar, but I just want something silly I've drawn on someone else's webpage :)

"... And this is your brain on Reasoned Cognition... Any questions?"

Ok, I didn't draw anything, cause I don't have a style. That's a ripped-off picture of the Seyfert Galaxy (NGC 7742) I put in another ripped-off picture of a frying pan.... Ok, I'm ready to go... Cuff me.

No really, you can handcuff me. No, it's ok. You're going to aren't you? Aren't you?! How 'bout this: I got $20... will that do it?

I'm actually offended that you offer cash for this.
Faith is what credulity becomes when it finally achieves escape velocity from the constraints of terrestrial discourse- reasonableness, internal coherence, civility, and candor. Thus, the men who commited the atrocities of September 11 were neither cowards nor lunatics of any sort, but Men of Faith- perfect faith- and this, it must finally be acknowleged, is a terrible thing to be.

Hey, when a man goes insane and starts flinging around cash...well, that's just his prerogative!

Not that I actually need the dollar. I'd be happier if you just bought yourself a good candy bar on my behalf.

Then just draw ABOL for the fun of it and let me have your dollar.

A buck eh?

Hmmmm...considering minimum wage is about 8 bucks an hour...and it would take me at least 15 minutes to draw a picture...nope, not worth it.

You know, I saw a funny thing once. I saw a homeless man with a sign, but not just any cardboard sign - it was a sigil of POWER! And thereupon it was inscribed: "Need money for booze".

Ain't that great? I mean, if you're going to panhandle, at least do it HONESTLY!

I was getting pushed to draw both a nude and an abol pic. So I did both!

This is in a faster style than I normaly do as I am preparing to try one of those 24 hour comics in not too long. Since I am a slow artist I need practice. Has anyone else tried one of those?

I must admit, Joel Fagin's is pretty darn awesome.
But hey, I'm gonna try at it.
For the very first dollar webcomics has made for me! Wow!
Anyway,

And, because for me its only a -ceremonial- dollar, I don't care that PayPal will take most of it. So I'll PM you with that in a moment.

Yeah, a contest with 5 dollars main prize, and 15 secondary prizes of 1$ would feel better.
You are the Non. You must go now, and never return."

"1.Scan in high res 2.tweak with curves, levels or something to clean up the scan (or use channel mixer to remove blue pencil lines) 3.Add colour using a layer set to multiply. 4.Add wordbubbles and text as vector shapes. 5. Merge all layers. 6.resize to the web size. 7. Export/Save for Web" that's all I know about webcomicking.
