Um yeah. That picture looks *ALMOST* indentical to the original for me. The original seams a little lighter and has just hints of green highlights but otherwise they look the same!Toawa wrote:Found an interesting site on the topic... Based on your description, Irish, if I interpreted it right, then the closest that this site has to what you might be seeing would be this:
Freddy as seen by a person with deutanopia (no green cones)
They don't get as specific as your test did, so this is the best I can find.
Loligoth Freddy

Leave it to those crazy japanese to come up with something like that.Ghastly wrote:Loligoth is a japanese fashion trend. It's a combination of the words "lolita" and "gothic". Very frilly, "little girlish" (loli) styled clothes with a gothic victorian flair (goth). It's a fashion trend and a fetish all in one.

I guess I should do a Freddy goth poem too.
Freddy no Goth
Baka baka bleak dispair
Neko neko everywhere.
Darkness fills the world with wai
Heart of pain is so kawaii.
Soul of anguish on chibi wings
Genki genki evil things.
Tormented heart oh so sugoi
Crushed beneath the dark yaoi.
Neko neko everywhere
Baka baka bleak dispair.

If A equals success, then the formula is _A = _X + _Y + _Z. _X is work. _Y is play. _Z is keep your mouth shut. -- Albert Einstein

I once read a commentary about Wicca that said that it's approximation to the various pre-Christan European traditions was comparable to the idea that if Hitler had wiped out the Jews and then a thousand years later a bunch of people decided to recreate Judaism based off what they read in Mien Kamf.
Don't care much for it anyway. My ex used to tell me stories about one guy who used to run a local pagan bookstore, who was really just in it for the sex, drugs, and money. It's like rock and roll for people who don't want to bother with music.

As an anthropology major, I've seen a lot of Wiccans take anthropology classes just to argue with professors about the "the Burning Times" and Wicca's rich history. There are a great many fnanps out there who believe all the "history" they read in these New-Age books they buy at the mall and are every bit as closed minded as the most fundimentalist of Christians when it comes to accepting that historical fact does not fit what is depicted in the books they hold sacred.
Granted, I know a great many Wiccans who are fully aware that their religion is a 20th century invention and frankly don't give a shit because it's what they want to believe in and if gives them a spiritual grounding.
I've always said the test of the spiritual value of a religion is if you knew with 100% certainty that your religion was not the actual, verbatim truth from on high and the absolute representation of the Devine would you still believe in it.
If the answer is no, then your religion really doesn't hold any spiritual value for you. You're only following it because someone has told you it is true and you're too afriad of the consequences of not believing, or you're lusting for the reward of believing.
If, on the other hand, you find that the lessons and morals this religion imparts upon you makes you a better person, brings you peace in this life, encourages harmony with those around you and makes you feel at home in the universe then there is a great spiritual value to it. It doesn't matter that it's not true or not, you still reap the benefits of what it teaches you about yourself and the world you live in.
This is why a lot of the older Wiccans, people who have been in the religion since the 60s, tend to accept that the religion is a modern invention but don't care. What the religion teaches them gives them strength and makes them better people and brings them peace. That's all that matters.
This is why a lot of younger Wiccans tend to insist that their religion is the oldest religion in the world and that "their kind" have suffered horribly for thousands of years and why everything written by some new-age hack looking to expliot disaffected youths who have become disillusioned with Christianity must be the 100% historical truth. They haven't reached that point in their lives yet where they can understand that there is a difference between religion and spirituality and that something doesn't have to be true for it to bring you spiritual benefit.
Some things the young Wiccans should know.
1) Yes Wicca is an Old English word, but it's the Old English word for witch, not "wise one".
2) The vast majority of the people killed by the church during "The Burning Times" as you call it were Christians. There would have been the odd Jew, the occaisional Muslim and possibly the odd unconverted pagan killed but Inquisition was about destroying Christian heresey (and in particular the last lingering vestigaes of Gnosticism), not hunting down pagans.
3) The Celts were not a peaceful, lovey-dovey, free-love espousing, frolicking-through-the-fucking-meadows people. They were every bit as intolerant, violent, and warlike as the big bad Christians and when it comes to you gay and bisexual Wiccans you should know that the Celts were even more intolerant of homosexuality than the Christians were.
And for the record, no I am not a Christian, and yes my heritage is Celtic.
