Heh, I wasn't looking at it closely enough.. I thought her feet were her shins (and she was wearing some grey knee-high socks and anime girls tend to wear), and her supposed feet were out of frame.. ;v

ok, after moments and moments of studying my picture intensly, I finally saw it and WHOA, it was REALLY obvious... ok, i am GOING to change that...for SURE. who cares if i have to recolor the whole thing O_O

anyway glad you guys pointed it out ;P just again to make sure, i didnt intend for it to be that way...unfortunatly i have a lot to learn about the human atanomy (sp?) ;P

Hehhe... I used to think it's atomony - thought it was strange since... what did atoms have to do with humans? Hehe. It's anatomy.

Anyway... I think your style is really cute. And I saw the picture of the sitting girl as you intended, but it did look a bit awkward. I'm curious about the other thirty pages you have to scan. Two pages is indeed very little to look at, but so far it looks pretty nice. You could try looking here for websites that have tutorials. It can be a big help. Also, try drawing people in your environment, it will help a lot of anatomy.

Uhhhh...how about colouring inside the lines? I always find that fun. I know the effect you're going for with the colours...but it just ain't working.

As for your style...well, it's anime...so points off in my books right away. But it's a style of manga/anime I actually quite like...not too angular or over the top. The characters still remotely resemble actual humans.

So, good style...reconsider the colouring, actually start inking your lines and either spend more time on your backgrounds or don't bother with them at all.

I'm back! for a while my starblinkz account got deleted, I don't really know how, but I couldn't log in for a while...ahh well

anyhow, thanks for all the critique, and for you Jackhass...well, I appreciate the honesty and comments, but to be completly honest with you, man, I suck at backgrounds and even though I do, I still want to draw them even though they might not look like the best thing in the world. I will work to improve though, of course I am always working to improve.

As for the coloring out of the lines thing, that is due to lazyness (sp?). so I will try to color more IN the lines next time, I just get rushed and things get kind of out of hand when I color.

The first few comics may suck a bit, I'm still getting used to the whole background thing O_o anyway, I should be coloring my third comic!

Keep working on the backgrounds--regardless of whether they currently suck, you'll only get better if you keep practicing (advice I should take myself--I'm awful at backgrounds, so I just don't bother with them, usually).

If you don't really like colouring and just start getting lazy and rushed when you get to the point, why not just ditch the colour altogether?

I don't bother with colour due to laziness mostly myself...

yes, i will still have to work on my backgrounds even if they are shaky. :)For my new colored background on this next comic (updated tomorrow) I drew somewhat of the inside of a house...it doesn't look too bad. I think I did an OK job, though I could have been more detailed.

anyway, I know laziness and not coloring in the lines would both lead us to the conclusion that I should not color at all, but for some reason I would prefer my comics to be in color (even though it may not look all that great) because one day I really want to get my comic published, and if it were to be, it would be in color. So...that's the real reason.

otherwise, my comic is coming along pretty well I hope.

The reason you are having trouble drawing character poses is that you've been focusing on superficial style rather than learning the actual ins and outs of anatomy and how the body moves and poses.

I'd suggest not worrying so much about 'style' as the substance behind it. Many people seem to think that using anime/manga style is an excuse not to learn anatomy, perspective, and all the other things you need in your artistic vocabulary to make a solid foundation overwhich a style is wrapped.

I'd suggest you pick up some anatomy/figure references books from the library or your local book store and do studies. Don't worry about the style until you get a more solid handle on anatomy and how to draw the human figure. Then the poses will come.

Zuri is the smartest person in this thread. You'd be a fool not to make this advice your reason to live.
