a good way to setup a system to email people (who want to know) when your comic is updated?

List Bot.

Of course, I haven't used one for a long time so I can't promise you they're still around. When I used them, they were a free service, easy to sign up for an deasy to use.

ListBot was shut down, they have ListBuilder now that charges $29.95/month or $299/month both in USD. You can try Your Mailing List Provider They're free but I don't use mailing lists myself so I don't know if it's a good service or not.

You can make a Yahoo group and set it only to allow you to post. Voila. A bit of a trouble if you readers aren't in a Yahoo Group already, though.

Your comic already has an RSS feed. It's http://yoursite.keenspace.com/rss.xml. Your users will need an RSS reader to get them. I'm pretty sure there's a thread about this in Help but I don't have a link.

Couldn't you just place a message on the site near the cartoon itself telling readers when the cartoon is usually updated? As long as you are updating as regularly as possible this should work just fine.

Mine has an index page at the beginning which shows the latest update, and I've tried to make it clear that updates will be each Sunday, or now Wednesdays as well.

Saves having to look for software and stuff and hoping it doesn't stuff up somewhere along the line.
Remember when your imagination was real? When the day seemed
longer than it was, and tomorrow was always another game away?

That only works if you can update on a schedule. Some people find that impossible, especially without a large buffer to handle off days (weeks, months).
