Webcomic Tracking?

Post by RPin »

I don't know if any of you ever heard of this. It sounds like a great idea for start, and it would be better if it were more popular.

I've been getting a few hits from it on my webalizer but never bothered to check until a few minutes ago, and I was surprised to see this is a feature that lets you know when your favorite comics updated. It's like the webcomic list, only you can choose the comics you can keep track of and add new ones yourself.

I was happy to see one of my readers took the effort of adding me to one of those lists again to save me the trouble. And the synopsis that person wrote is better than anything I could come up with!

Anothe thing that site does, albeit in a very early stage, is to measure the popularity of webcomics, by counting the number of readers each webcomic has.

So what do you guys think? Should you all give a try? And tell your readers to do so?

Hmm... Looks interesting, I suppose. It's kinda what my favorites list does already, but I might give it a shot.

I suspect a lot of comics would need to be added, I wasn't seeing much of the keenspace family there.

Addendum: I notice the description for A&I is very good (it's accurate and such). I wonder who wrote that?

I've found myself as a part of Comic Nation, which is a similar service. I even got an email from one of the administrators asking me to check it out.

both look like very useful resources... anything that lets me know when a comic updates has gotta be a good thing!
Magellan ... super hero cadets - their worst enemy is themselves!
Loxie and Zoot ... cos nudists have adventures too y'know!

;_; They have my update schedule listed as "sporadic"

And it would be wrong to correct them.

that's a very cool site.
I guess it just needs a bit more advertising.

My schedule is listed wrong too. Understandable, since my Monday is still Sunday for you US folks.

I just realised this service do not warn you when updates occur. All it does is list webcomics, put a link to their forum and count how many readers they have. Maybe it's nice for a guy that only wrote this because he was bored. But somehow I think this could be much more.

For start, they could merge this with the webcomiclist service, and list the comics that updated today. I always dream of the ultimate webcomic list, one that allowed us as readers to have a good personalized service, an as artists to widen the word about our works.

My perfect list would have a way to switch lists between other users, make suggestions to your friends, put on something like the spotlight of the day/week/month, add reviews and scores, and that's just a few.

I feel like mailing the guy this. Anybody else? I really feel that this could become a great thing, with a little more work and time.

Send it to Ash. I think he's busy - god knows there's no end to the webcomics around - but there's no harm in showing it to him. I know he's quite open to criticism and ideas - 'coz he's used a couple of mine - but I doubt he'll want to do any sort of major revamp of the list anytime soon, given that he just did.
