Kwerki and the Zipper Ninja - Wow!

Post by Cuteswan »

Besides being a funny strip (as usual), I must give special kudos to Ghastly for the background artwork. My eyes widened in delight when I saw it. The first frame must have taken a long time to draw and color.

Also, I really like Kwerki's outfit: where can I buy those for my female friends? (Let's just hope they don't become sadistic like Kwerki while wearing them.)

Oh, the "real one" that shows her bum when she leans over and always shows lots of other good skin.

You know, it takes a special kind of woman to fill out a coarse, ill-conceived, lopsided handmade sweater from the Salvation Army -- and should you ever find her, please make sure she's taken her medication.

A tangent on the 'Buffy' Mp3... Fantastic!! I only wish it was the early run 'whole' theme rather than the truncated later version (so more adverts could be shown within the time frame, no doubt). It mixes cheesy "Dr. Who" synthesizer (which I love) with hard-rock riffs beautifully.

It took quite awhile to pencil the first strip. Inking it didn't take that long and colouring it wasn't all that big a deal.

Usually when I draw a complex background I draw and colour it seperately from the characters and then composite them all together, like in cel animation. This time I drew and coloured everything all on one sheet. I'm kind of annoyed that I did that because now I can't use that background for other strips. Oh well.

It was fun to draw a complex background for once.

For those who want to see the first panel artwork without all the speech balloons covering everything up.

I concur. Smashing background, old bean.

I didn't notice it so much with the word balloons, but it's pretty pimptastic with detail.

Word balloons are saddly a neccessary evil. I think it may even be one of the things that discourages me from getting too fancy with my backgrounds since it's rather depressing to know I'm just going to end up covering them up with word balloons.

If you want to get fancy, you could have the wordless panel show up on mouseover....... (Yeah, that would be a pain, I suppose.)

Y'know... the more I see Kwerki in a loose fitting sweater and nothing else, the more I think that such an outfit would be incredibly sexy...

A better way would be to bring the words up on a mouseover. That way you could look at the image first and try to guess what they're saying!
