Well, even though the poll has no end date, it appears to have slowed down.

The largest specific group is comprised of Christians, at 13 votes. However, if you combine Atheists (10 votes) with Agnostic/Nonreligious (9 votes,) you can see that the largest group is in fact comprised of those who do not actively believe in a god or gods.

I expected to see more Neo-Pagan/Wiccan entries for some reason. I'm also curious about those 3 voters who chose Other Polytheistic... Did I overlook a major Polytheistic religion?

At any rate, thanks for your participation, everyone. I found it very interesting.

Later...

I just voted. And for something I don't even believe in. Try and guess which it is.

Amazed that you included "Taoism". Seems I'm the only one so far.

But it's not really a religion, so much as a way to live with others without killing them.

OK, "Westernized Taoist" then... ;)

LOL!

I have a similar bumper sticker:

"Who are you to question why your god doesn't want me to believe in him?"

Well, you didn't include "Paganism" as a general catagory. It's sort of like Christianity - a catch-all group for many similar religions.

Neo-Pagan and Pagan are two different things. Neo-Pagans are less worship of a specific diety and more spiritual in general - worship of nature, sacred trust with the earth, etcetera.

Ditto Wiccan and Pagan - All Wicca is a pagan religion.

Paganism as a catch-all catagory would get Wiccan and Neo-Pagans as well as people who worship the older dieties. It's an important difference - if you'd not included Christianity and put in "Protestant" and "Baptist" alone, you'd have had more "Other Monotheistic Religion" entries.

And what about Voodoo? Or does that just fall under Neo-Pagan/Wiccan or Christian?

Me, too. I [sarcasm]love[/sarcasm] all those little kids who run around pretending to be Wiccans, burning their incense and making up "spells" to turn people into toads. I'm not even kidding - there's swarms of them. Must be because I go to an art school, and people seem to think that being artsy means pretending to do "magick".

If I were of said religion, I'd be mighty offended. However, I'm a fence-sitting semi-Christian.

i've actually heard voodoo lumped in with the umbrella term paganism, though it's more of an african/creole thing.

You aren't kidding. I for one am not mightily offended by them, although it's annoying that they seem to get so much of the attention, giving people who actually follow the faith a bad name.

Definately not Pagan in the traditional sense. Darkstar mentioned he's seen it lumped in with Paganism too, and so have I. It's more of an African traditional religion, er... I think. I'm no expert in Voodoo.

I think the whole pegan thing became misconstrued when it basicly became, "If you don't have a holy scripture of some sort, you're pegan." It was sorta like the term Barbarian refered to anyone who didn't act according to a certain civilazation's rules. That's where the mixup started, I think.
