Got work?

Post by Rian Q. Fox »

I'm just wondering what you're doing besides of drawing you webcomic.
Got a work, are you still at school or going to university? (I think there was a thread like that, just with "How can you find time to draw?", but that's more... definete.)

Well, I'm not the one who's drawing the comics, but I work at it (in some ways as hard as Scythe) and I'm still at school, grade 10 (Don't ask me which grade this is in american school system @.@).

Studying for a Masters in Aerospace Engineering at Bath University, so I currently juggle comic drawing with thermofluids, solid mechanics, maths, applied engineering and lab time.

Why do these threads come in floods? Nonsense threads flood, comic discussions flood, threads with polls flood, not to mention backslash threads floods. Now this is almost a personal threads flood.

Anyway, electrotachins student. Never earned a dime in my life.

I'm going to university (Computer Science), and to a flight school in order to get the flight license. I'm actually hoping to get a job as a pilot soon.

Now that's cool. That's "I wanna be a pilot when I grow up.". Rawkin' awesome. Good luck.

Just to keep it Dutch standards, I'm a mid-schoolist on a special school for troublesome kids(I'm stubborn, and I'm an induvidual, and most of all, proud of it!), 2nd grade (If you're actually familiar with this system and you're wondering why I'm still in second grade, I haven't been to school for about one and a half year.).

I used to be an artist working on Playstation 2 games.

Now I'm just another low life student trying to get through three of these freaking two year A Level courses without failing. So far going badly. Grr humbug.

College student by day, and ummm... college student by night. Biology major, and I work at the career services center (I control the fates of all those who seek jobs after college! Mwaaa haaa haaa haaaa!) ahem, I mail out letters of recommendation... Current grades: B+ in art, B theatre, D in symbolic logic (damn left brain... why do you mock me!!) and umm, unknown in Biology. After I hopefully graduate, I'm going into the army (they'll pay off my insane tuition bills here, $37,000/yr not counting my financial aid) and all I have to do is take a human life... :-? But whatever. If you saw my school record, it takes a complete 180 at 7th grade... I was a smart @ssed punk who always got into fights, then, somehow, I became a smart @assed punk who let other people do his fights, lmao.

High school senior, suppose to be filling out applications to college... but just trying to raise my grades so I can get into college.

I work at my parents' restaurant, otherwise. And swim competitively. And play piano, um, kinda competitively.

I work part time for a small consulting/recruiting/mortgage company out of Saint Louis as a FoxPro database programmer and network administrator. I have been taking two classes a semester for almost two years now at University of Missouri Columbia and am getting straight As because I've only been able to afford two classes at a time. I've failed the GRE once trying to get into the Master's program for computer science. And, I haven't been able to work on my comic for almost a week now because of a combination of work and homework. It's really starting to annoy me.

Grade 11 in average US high school, a Junior. There are football games, dances, and pep rallys. I do not attend. I'm the co-editor of a literary arts magazine with a couple of friends, which is great but at times highly stressful. I'm also attending Community College concurrently in order get some higher level classes and grab some cheap college credits while I'm at it. It's better at the college because they don't attempt to cram 1500 kids into a tiny little building. The only downside is that everyone smokes like a chimney there.

Err, play intermittant shows with my band, http://www.mp3.com/akathehat/ - AKA the Hat, drum a lot.

I don't work but I've been trying to find it. Hard though since SOMEONE screwed our economy. That is all.

I work full-time. This, combined with laziness and inexperience, is why my comic only updates twice a week.

I was wondering how many of you guys had seriously planned on putting your webcomic experience to work for you. Some artists (like Hard of Sexy Losers) have no intention of living off their comics even if it is possible. Others are using webcomics as a foot in the door, hoping to be the next Penny Arcade, or planning more related work down the line.

I am of the latter category; I'm doing my webcomic first to give me experience so that I might one day get my art and storytelling skills up to the level where I can do "actual" comics.

Later...

Hey, I'm doing the same thing up in here! It really is good practice, I think.

Oh yes, well, I go to Florida State University in good ol' Tallahassee as a double art/bio major. I'm also in (quite literally) the best marching band in the world - I'm so proud of me! Oh, but if you say any band jokes to me... you kind of die.

So that's me. I'm thinking of taking a choir or drama class next semester, I really miss doing musical theater (why can't I major in everything?).
