If we already know that "Reality" lied about Lily, he could be lying about everything else, too!! And if he's throwing all the evil past at Ben, then he qualifies as the ACCUSER OF SOULS, i.e., Satan!
Also, Jesus Christ Himself said, "You are of your father, the Devil, and the lusts of your father you will do [speaking to those who did not believe Him]. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own, for he is a liar, and the father of it."
So then...
Ben!!! Don't listen to him!! If you repented of all the wrongs you did (and at least tried to make restitution of your debts), then he has nothing on you!!! If he keeps reminding you of your past, take Carman Licciardelo's advice and remind him of his future!! He may have archived all the wrongs, but if you've truly repented, then they're no longer in God's archive!! You're being hypnotised!! This is not a dream!!

I think that the clown is another manefestation of Ben's subconcious. It's so big because he feels that life has been going too well. It is only human nature to occasionally dwell on our failings and perceived failings. I still feel embaresment/shame/regret over things that I did, or in some cases didn't do. Some of them over twenty years ago. Most of them are minor. An ill chosen word or phrase. An offer of friendship not accepted. Some of them are not so minor. A very good girlfriend broken up with for no real good reason. Decisions made that were self serving or childish. It's all part of living and learning.
For Ben I think the clown is how he thinks the world views him. His relationship with Lily has probably started to shake that world view. Since his subconcious can manafest, the part that is the clown is trying to strike back before it is destroyed/changed.
