Place to go for Ben and Lily?

Post by Archae99 »

I think after all this madness is over, Ben will decide to take Lily to this fine establishment, here in my state:

http://www.lileks.com/institute/motel/index.html

(To the restaurant there, not to stay in a room!) :)

Then again, maybe Ben wants to live a little longer..... :D

(I went here with part of my family years ago. It's not as bad as they say it is. It's worse! But the food was good.)

Man my retinas burned out just looking at the website. :o If I went there in person I would probably end up blind for life, or maybe I would just pass out from laughing so hard. In a way the Goobler is so bad it's good. I'm going to have to show that site to my mother, she's an architect and will probably get a real kick out of it.

After a little web-digging, it is my sad duty to report that The Gobbler Motel no longer exists. :( It was burned down by the Johnson Creek Fire Department in late December 2001; all that remains on the site is the concrete foundation, and the swimming-pool pit full of burnt wreckage.

Damn shame, really...

Maybe Ben could take Lily to this place instead? :) (A friend of mine at work told me about this place... says he stayed there on a recent trip to New Orleans, but didn't have the nerve to go down to the pool area after 10PM. Check out the site to find out why. )

I found the link with even a short video file there, at the scene of the destruction.

Is the pool skateable, though? I might have to make a trip out there and clean the sucker out.

Oh well. Ben couldn't have taken Lily there after the madness was over anyway though. That would just have been a continuation of the madness.
