Doesn't update my index yet takes my comic

Post by ZOMBIE USER 4562 »

The automation takes my comic from the workspace and puts in the public folder but it doesn't update my index or any page.

Please help.

Eh, um, er, pages have been generated forr of your comics and the comic for 10/22/2002 is on the index, it's the most recent
If it doesn't work, make it.

That's me who put it there until a solution could be found. Usually the index has only one strip. I just edited the index page itself with an editor as a quick fix.

The index page wouldn't change on its own. I tried a regular update, index update, and full update. The index page remained at the 2002/10/15. I even deleted the jpg in the public folder and relaoded the strip in the workspace folder... Nothing, the index page remained at the 2002/10/15.

Please help.

Thanks,
Dustbunny

Please make sure that you don't have any copies of index.html or indextemplate.html in workspace/webpages/ , the fact that an index only update didn't makes this unlikely. Also check to make sure you aren't missing any symlinks using this script.

If all of that is in order, then I'm going to report this as a widespread problem because others have posted about similar problems

As you asked, I now have no copies index.html or indextemplate.html in:
workspace/webpages/ I had them in there since strip one.

So if all I do is add strips every now and then why would it not work now and all the other times it did?

You asked me to check if I'm missing any symlinks? Whatever that is. I won't know since you sent me to a page I have no access to without a password.

Please help.

Thanks,
Dustbunny

you enter the username and password you use to log into your comic when you're FTPing in, or checking the stats. In it look for things in red, they're bad

This is most likely related to a larger problem, which has been fixed. Check out this thread for some more info

What it doesn't say in that thread is what do I have to undo to make it work. I tried clicking on update site and nothing happened. I even deleted the comic in the public folder and place the 20021022db.jpg then I placed the same one in the workspace/comics folder and done a full update and still nothing happened. I just need to know what I have to do to bring everything back to normal.

Please help.

Thanks,
Dustbunny

The following should work to get things back to normal

1) move the comic over to wrorkspace/comics/
2) replace your temp code block with ***todays_comics***
3) run a regular update

1) move the comic over to wrorkspace/comics/

I did that

2) replace your temp code block with ***todays_comics***

I did that

3) run a regular update

I did those 3 steps twice and I only get on the http://dustbunnies.keenspace.com/ page is:

***todays_comics***

The comic db20021022.jpg was sent to the public folder that I placed in the workspace/comics folder but that is all that happened.

In the meanwhile I put back my tempporary index.html page till a solution that works can be found.

Once again, please help.

Thanks,
Dustbunny

Symlink?

Post by ExplosiveNstuff »

What is a Symlink? I am (according to that script, I am having the same problem) missing it for my index template. What do I do now?

write help@ or pray to your respective deity. An admin has to fix it, and it may take a while
