What great, bitter joy.

I got your number quite some time ago
Back when we were young
But I had to grow
Ten thousand years I've searched it seems and now
I've got to get to you
Won't you show me how?
Call me, call me
Let me know you're still there...
*ahem* Okay...still doesn't explain why she had the gun to Xe's head...so..... Idria, friend or foe?

Oh my GOSH I love that movie.
I was lucky enough to find the "Director's Cut" edition, only 5000 made. Bruce is one of the voices on the "Director's commentary" audio track. twice the humor, same $ :)

How is it I'm the film major but I've never seen or heard of so many of these movies people keep telling me about?? Which one are you referring to Devon? I'm gonna try and watch Boondock Saints tonight 'cause a friend thinks it's the absolute best movie ever made (besides LotR in his opinion).

Yesss.... *grins* Army of Darkness is GREAT. It's the sequel to Evil Dead 2 which is ALSO great, which is the sequel to Evil Dead, which is... NOT so great. I haven't seen the first one, but have been warned off it. The way I heard it, it goes like this: They made Evil Dead I back in the 80's as a serious attempt at making an 80's style horror flick. They failed miserably, and a couple of years later, they decided to REmake it with Evil Dead 2. I think they STARTED out trying to make it serious, but it quickly degraded into a parody of Evil Dead I and various other 80s horror flicks. (It's quite worth it to see) Years later, in the early 90s, they made Army of Darkness. By then, Bruce Campbell was playing Autolicus on the TV show Xena, and Army of Darkness was filmed in much the same slapstick style as the show (with many Xena inside jokes). That's about as much as I've gleaned from it, but Army of Darkness is definately a must see.

Let me describe how I classified them in my index:
Primary Secondary - Movie
Comedy Horror - Army of Darkness
Horror Comedy - Evil Dead 2
Horror Horror - Evil Dead
One of my favorite scenes is the expression when a sage holds a satchel of black powder over a flame.
It's a good thing it takes 24h for nitro to set. :)

I may be an atheist now, but I still reserve the right to say this prayer to whoever it may apply:
Dear God, save us from the unspeakable horror that is Austin Powers. Let this incarnation of pure of evil and incredible annoyance be rid from this earth! Free us from the oppression of this adulterer who can't shut up and scantily clad women dancing to unspeakable anthems....
;p

Ah yes! The Evil Dead trilogy! Watched those things over and over and over again while drinking copious amounts of vodka and cleanin solvent on an assignment in Kazakhstan for lack of anything better to do.
The first movie was so over-the-top gore, that it was hilarious! The second movie, as stated, was almost a complete remake but with slightly less gore and some wacky one-liners added. The third movie had little gore and was more of a parody of itself -- it also had a budget, a script and an actual production company behind it.
The one and only artistic value occurs at the end of the second movie / beginning of the third movie when Ash falls from the sky and hits the ground in the fireground, while a car does same in the background simultaniously.

KLAATU BARADA NIKTO
Anyone else have no trouble at all remembering those words?
Actually, 'tis "Gort, Klaatu Barada Nikto."
So, yes, I guess you could say I have no trouble remebering those words
No, I'm not quite old enough to have seen it in its first run in the theatres, but I've watched it several times over the years. Along with all sorts of other science fiction movies from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's etc etc etc etc....
