Webcomic Above pt 2!
Well I dunno about you guys, but the other thread seems busted, and its getting *really* long. Someone suggested a new thread, so here it is!
Quick Recap of what this is:
Post a review of the person's comic ahead of you. There is no limit, you can review and be reviewed many times.
I think New Traditionalists next according to the old topic...

You mean the person posting, or the person's comic? To be honest I'm not familiar with your comic and I've never seen you post before... Let's see who can beat a lame review like this!
*Watches everyone race to the topic to be the first to get out the words "Liz is a moron... And she doesn't even have a comic online" *

Ah! This is a great opportunity to tell you how much I like your comic! It's funny and I like the artwork. It's colorful, yet not so much that is hurts the eyes.
In my book, you get points just for having an art style that looks original! If anything I might suggest you use more 'dramatic' shading to give your comic a bit more visual depth.
And to answer your question; I did a manga-style comic that lasted for not much more than a dozen strips and cut off in mid story. Got more gift art for it than I created comic pages. Pretty sad on my part. It didn't take me all that long to realize it wasn't the kind of comic I wanted to be doing! I've erased pretty much all the evidence, though you will still find a good number of fanarts scattered around the web that I made, credited to "Liz Groenveld of Paperbug". That's about it.
As for the hair; I wish it was black and pink like my avatar, but actually that's a random picture. I did run the idea by my parents when I had just finished coloring it, but sadly my enthousiasm didn't rub off on them. Maybe sometime soon I'll through together an avatar with me and my purple do!

Wow. I can't even look at a picture right: I thought you were wearing a hat.Odd1 wrote:As for the hair; I wish it was black and pink like my avatar, but actually that's a random picture. It's cool Razi.
I have no problem giving you the time. Hopefully you won't find it too much of a chore.
Or at least you'll enjoy some of it. ^_^ * bops up and down waiting in anticipation of her review *

Strap yourselves in, bitches! It's
RAZI'S FANTASTIC 'SHIFTERS' REVIEW!
Alright, First section of intrest:
ART:
The art is good. Very consistant and well done. "Typical" manga elements and Japanese styling but pulled off very well with hints of "American" comic stlying.
Little room for improvement; they've mastered they're style.
Colour is done well but, as a whole, the series works best in its new B&W format. Very effective and, dare I say, 'emotional'
STORY:
The story behind this strip seems to have been thought out from day one! Very well planned and executed. Good character development, although I occasional got confuzled early on. The plot is solid, with ebb and flow. It doesn't feel like a stop-and-go plot, but rather an authentic movie.
SITE:Well done, althought I found myself having to scroll left or right a few times, which is pretty aggravating. Also, there should be archive buttons at the bottom of the comic. I was guilty of this early on as well, but thankfully eliminated it.
OVERALL:A good series with a lot of potential. The plot may seem cliched but seems to be turning quite nicely. I'll be reading, dag-nabbit, and that says alot, cause I'm a bitter sonnuvabitch whos hard to impress!
Recommended.
...
now READ IT, PUSSIES! - (B+)
(By the way, its always nice to see a comic that touches on the 'Kin' belief system. Cudos. Plus cat/girls always get me purring. Me-ow!)

I was reading Jack last night too, thanks to you, Razi. A furry comic! I'm so ashamed!
I hid it when my fiance walked by. But then I got over it. I like Jack.
I need to stop posting in betwen the reviews now... um. How will this go? Cinderblock and NetherOak should both be getting a review now. I've already done Cinderblock... so... I'll do NetherOak!
I've already read 'em all, gimme some time to say something meaningful.
'kay, here goes:
Art: The art took me some time to get used to, because it's not my personal taste for a serial comic. That's not to say it's not good art, I'm just one of those guys who has a hard time getting into magna-styled comics. But I'm not seeing constant regressions into wriggling chibis of frustration or cliched anime nose-bleed/sweatdrop/snot-bubble takes that can even clog up serious magnas and I like that. Your story is too deep for that, plus I can't pigeonhole NetherOak as BEING a manga because it's got its own distinct personality. I really like that you've switched to black and white, because you're pulling that off to much greater effect. I think it's appropriate to the material. For me, the moment you backed off on the colors was the moment this changed from a light-hearted college strip to a grim (sub)urban story and that was an excellent transition. Stick to black and white, it brings out more detail and emotion. It's grittier.
Writing: I was hooked on NetherOak the moment Dave, Radek and Robin went out for some random paintballing and caught the Tenmei with hostages on film. You tell this story from all different perspectives, so it's not some flat Good Guys Vs Faceless Bad Guys story. Reading back I can see that you've had this whole story planned from the beginning... well done. You've got me hooked now, I can't wait to see where you're taking this and I can't guess the ending--I can't expect more from a serial comic. Radek's crashing at Seth's house; those are the guys that found Kado's "pound", yes?
Cinderblock needs the next review, I'll step out of the loop here.

I'll review Cinderblock after I've finished the archives...
"The juxtaposition of form and function wherewithin the corpereal embodiment of this one true, sacred, and pure form is simply an antediluvian spectre harking back to the very epitomy of architecture. I find your work striking...it has panged my heart to the basest metals of my soul.
Remember, simplicity, form, and soul are the keys to success in this field."
