Feedback

Post by JV »

I'm not looking for any but I'm just wondering if you guys get much in the way of feedback for your comics. If so is it good/bad/"dude, wheres your car?"/indifferent? get any weird "i love you" bullshit? just asking...

I get occasional feedback, but it's moderately few and far between (I really have no clue where all my visits are coming from). I was managing a spot of activity on my forum for a while, but it seems to have died down again. Actually soliciting feedback usually nets me nothing.

Most of what I do get is polite and complimentary. I've gotten a couple of pointers that have helped to tweak the art somewhat (or at least gave me a heads up of what to watch for) but nothing really earthshattering. I haven't heard anything really negative at all yet.

nope, once upon a time, my forum was visited, but that was when the comic hadn't started yet... I get quite a few visitors, but they are all silent...

someone sent me an e-mail saying that they loved my website...

Feedback?

Post by Dark Artist »

I get a little note every now and then from someone that has been reading my comic for quite awile.

Rare but wonderful.

I can go weeks on one nice little feedback.

The real question should be...how often do we leave
feedback for others?

I know I am bad. I seldome do even now that I know
how much it can mean.

I really really loved getting feedback on my comics. I saved every single message I got about my comic in a little folder; especially the ones with critisism and comments. Getting positive feedback completely made my day when I found it!

Not suprisingly most of the feedback I got didn't come from ordinary readers, but from other cartoonists. Cartoonists truly understand the importance of getting a pat on the back every now and then to keep you going even when your schedule gets tighter.

This one reader had a crush on one of the male characters in my comic and talked on and on about him and analyzed all his dialogue in the strips. It was pretty amusing.

I get yelled at when I'm late with an update. Does that count?

I get almost no feedback except from two very nice fanboys from the Wendy forum. It's always good to get some feedback now and then. That's why I write short letters to artists who do something I like. I need it, so I give it!

People (especially webartists) should write more feedback to others! They know best how it is needed!

Maybe we should open a thread and start a 'hug your artist'-movement!?

I get nothing. Ever.

If you're not getting any feedback, I would recommend putting it in your log. When I didn't receive any feedback whatsoever on many strips in a row I would just fucking complain about it until people sent me feedback!

Mind you, if you do this daily you will have a very readerless log...

But if you do it right, and keep your log interesting for readers, you can even start asking for fanart (NOW!) and with any luck start getting it. Just a few thoughts.

Yeh, I've constantly and gently hinted towards feedbacking, but people neither email me or write on the forum... I probably should code my own non-registeration-needing board, maybe that would help. But I'll try some more visible comment-begging first. :)

Odd1: I'm begging for feedback and fanart since I have the site! I even did a 'how to draw' for my main character.

If I get feedback it's totally positive. Almost everyone likes my comic, but nevertheless I have only about 15 reader/day.
I think that's because I don't like to promote myself. It's too much work.
What I need is ONE link on another webcomic. Everything will work on it's own then.

I've got two webcomic artist buddies that I email every so often. But aside from that I'm groping in the dark.

So far I've been contacted by 2 people (both comickers) and recieved one piece of fanart.
I believe that these numbers are accurate evidence of my readership, in that there are very, very, very few.

But praise sure is a great thing to get for something that takes so much effort! :D

Well getting feedback is fun and when it's constructive it can be educational as well, but what we're cartooning for is the enjoyment of the process itself, right?
