Translate to Japanese?

Post by Ajcg51 »

Hi. Any of you gifted with the skill to write japanese, can you help me out?

I would like somebody to write "code" and "oddity" in Japanese (names of my comics). Please can you draw it on paper and scan it in? I would like "code" more than the other, but both would be great! Thanks...

There might be kanji for "oddity", but "code" is definately katakana. If you do them both in katakana, it should be easy to find a quasi-japanese font for Photoshop. Or just find a katakana guide, it's a phonetic alphabet.

You could use "henjin" for "odd person" or "hen na mono" for "odd thing".

For "code" there is "angou" which is "secret words" or "fugou" which is "signals" or if you mean "code" as in "code of ethics" or "code of law" then there is "houten".

I read, write, and speak Japanese fluently, and KODAMA's Japanese is correct. Actually it kind of depends on what you want to do. Because Often I see titles in Japanese completely different from what it means in english (although the meaning is more or less preserved).

ie. Eric Clapton's "Layla" is "Lovely Layla" in Japanese.

The way KODAMA wrote it, it's not going to mean a thing to a Japanese person. They would probably understand "code" but not "oddity." It's kind of hard to describe, but basically what I'm saying is that the way KODAMA wrote it, a Japanese person would simply pronounce the english words with a Japanese accent.

It all depends on what you want to do...

ok thanks all, it seems like instead of a straight translation of my comic name, I should get a meaning translated rather than a name... like "Strange People" instead of "Oddity"

cannot thing of anything I could relate to "Code" at the moment... maybe if you take a look, you could come up with something. I know "Code" is a random title for a comic, but as I said, doesn't have to have anything to do with the name...

You could always call it "hen na angou" For "odd code".

I thought the title was in reference to computer coding, in which case co-do would be appropriate.

odd code
well, I'm not planning on combining the two.

And as for Code, forget about the title. I guess, I dont have anything for your Japanese to translate yet.

"Odd people" could be a could one to get translated (that could go with my "oddity" comic.

Still stuck for ideas for Code though...

As for the purpose of all this? Well, 2 reasons.

1) I want to add some Japanese into the website design

2) Japanese looks cool on merchandise (I'm creating a store...)
