hey i can't get into my ftp page!!!!

yeah my name is Capsule Girl and for some reason i can't get into my ftp page....this is like the 2nd day....i've never had any problem with it untile now
is it me or is keenspace down?

There are six other threads with the exact same problem. With all the new accounts, there was a DNS-bandwidth-comicsgonetohell problem. Most are resolved now, though...

I just checked it and it seemed to be fine. If you still have trouble access it or have problems in the future, try the web "FTP" service. If you're still having trouble and you're sure you're not mistyping your username and password, etc. e-mail help@keenspace.com.

If you want to check and make sure that the server is alive (this isn't to check anymore than that) go to the "MS-DOS Prompt" or "Command Line" (name depends on which version of windows you're using) and type "ping yourcomic.keenspace.com" (be sure to substitute the name of your comic in). If it says "Unknown host yourcomic.keenspace.com" then there's a DNS problem that keenspace probaly can't fix. If all four time out the server is down. Anything else means that the server is at least on.

Capsule Girl was added way back in like ... way long time ago. And it uses a non-standard directory/filename structure, so I can't suggest anything other than "please try again".

(Note to others, if you deviate from the autokeen directory structure/naming structure, it's assumed you know what you are doing, and the wranglers can't help with what they are unfamilar with.)

FTP/site-doesn't-exist is linked to the "reverse-dns" failure problem, however since this site was added a long time earlier it's most likely the "bandwidth-cap/peak-time" problem instead.

The bandwidth cap/peak time problem often shows up as either the connection breaking or ftp logging in and then not showing anything (where the second connection FTP uses is denied.)

You can attempt to circumvent this by using PASV mode, which will force the FTP client to only use one port, and thus if it connects, it should be working untill you disconnect it, or the connection times out.

If you changed your password today, please do it again as things got hairy today and critical files got trashed.

I checked your e-mail, it matches the current one in the database, so if you get a new password it should just work, then you can change it from the member pages.

thanks everyone....but ya know what....i think it is my computer.... a week ago it started dieing out and right now it's getting repaired from the ground up.....so this means that some of my internet programs have been lose when my computer was dieing so i don't have the newest version of explorer....so i can't really do any real internet stuff now.....or something....

but like i said thanks for cheaking it out and getting back ta me...sorry it took me so long ta responed
