Truely.

But look on the bright side. Soon all of these bright, shining new faces will stop writing when they discover the the dark truth of web comicking. Then, those that don't end their lives will end up grumpy and cynical like us.

My thought on plugging is: don't plug until your comic gets on a few episodes. Have a portfolio so that people can get a big taste of what you can do, instead of guessing and then ditching.

That way General Discussion doesn't get swamped every time keenspace updates the books.

Bright and shining? Did I forget to powder it this morning?

I thought we were all cynics in the first place, which is >why< we started doing web-comics instead of something oh, life-fufilling (no offense intended to those to whom web-comicing is life-fufilling).

Any ideas on what to talk about sss? or shall we continue talking about the excess of plugs? Plugging the plugs so to speak?
I believe this is heaven to no-one else but me,
and I'll defend it long as I can be,
left here to linger in silence if I choose to,
but would you try to understand?

Cynic? Me? Nah... I guess I'm a minority around here, being mainly bright, cheery, and suprisingly naive...

Until I walk into band class to deal with a certain moronic, egocentric oboist who shall remain nameless for my protection. ^_^;

Unfortunately, for the past 2 school years, Wind Ensemble, the class for the talented bandies (or those who just play an instrument that not many people play), has been first period. >_<;

Taito Country - The Comic!
Now with actual strips by Tei/Disk! Because the real artist is still lazy...

"Ignorant and stupid people are funny!! I want to herd a whole bunch of you into one big farm and just point and laugh at how hopeless you are. =)" - Tei/Disk *if you know who specifically this refers to, private message me and you get... um... a cookie!*

Wait a minute...

I play an oboe, I'm certainly egocentric, and gasp! I'm also moronic!

Sweet! Let's go get lunch sometime!

You mean to say you're not even a bit cynical? Nothing your tongue wishes to sli--...oh, right. I get it.

i'm still wondering why people think they'll get more readers if they plug their comic in THIS forum, I mean the only people who really come here are comicers who are probably just as disappointed in the size of there following as the person who's plugging, I say it's time for those people to realize that everyone hates you!

Ouch, do I sense any animosity? In all fairness it does say on the label that this is the place for plugs, and we've all been guilty of it ourselves, vetrans and newbies like myself alike. But if you're looking for something else to read have you looked at the rest of the forums here? I mean seems like there's a bit and you're not obligated to go through every plug you see if you're tired of them. More to the point, we all gotta plug somewhere, where else do you suggest? I guess my own cynical opinion is it's gonna happen no matter how you try to fight it.

I don't think it's the plugging itself that's so...hurtful to the mind, so much as the manner in which it presents itself. (One after another for several days on end)

I see one plug and I'm like: cool new guy, time to give a look. but four or five is just poor timing, who here likes hearing the same joke over and over?

I guess the closest thing I can compare plugging to is telemarketing. An occasional call is annoying, but sometimes you get someone interesting to talk to or even, *gasp*, a good deal. When your phone rings eight times in a row while you're trying to have that "intimate" time, ...well, it throws off your happy patterns.

One plug can be tasteful, but an army of plugs is likely to clog the audience instead of direct the flow.

Exactly.
So, we'll have a plugage sign up sheet going around and each person will get one day in a week to plug their comic... There's a release form on the back. And if you could write out your credit card number next to your name I would be grateful.

What? Why not read your own comic?

I mean, if you don't make it for you, then what's the point of making it at all? I love reading my strip.

If your a newbie, don't plug. If you have something, make it whorth our time. If you do want to post if your a newbie, make your comic interesting enough to where people wonder where it's gonna go.

As for me,I'm too afraid to even click on my member page to read the hits for the month.

I read my hits every day, and am quite proud to see that I have like a couple thousand hits from myself.

It's like Harvest Moon. *beams*

I think plugging after a certain point can be excessive, or the same person plugging themselves by starting 5 new threads saying that their comic sucks, so everyone should go make them feel better gets...well...annoying after a while. The healthy thing to do is join dropdowns, link exchanges, and of course, place a link in their sig line. Plugging once is ok on threads specified for plugs, but opening a million plug threads is excessive.
On another note, I just went over 20,000 hits this weekend (Yay, cheer, yay!) But I never predict these things in time to make banners or nothing! ^^; I'm not sure how many visits that actually is, but I know there's no way 1 person visited my site 20,000 times. So, I have 2+ readers! (I hate math...) So, the morals of this post are:

*Plug in moderation
*Yanagi-San is bad at math

Remember this, there WILL be a test! Mwa ha ha ha ha!
Ok, I'm done now. Ja ne!

*Swoons in Yanagi-San's direction*

Bad at math, Hey, J-Buckleyline, you think that's close enough to qualify for my standards in the other thread?

I just wish I could follow her link. (Other people's children are about.)Wanna see! Wanna see!

*Swoons again and bats his eyelashes*
