Why, it was a blast and a half!
Joey and I got to spend an entire week together, so of course I was in heaven. Joey probably wanted to shoot me after the first couple of days and just continue on herself.
My brother Keith met us when we arrived at LaGuardia (Joey knew he was coming, but elected not to tell me). We all had pizza at a little pizza place near Times Square, then he left for Boston. He lives in LaCrosse, but does get around a bit. We stayed on the top floor of the Comfort Inn, not even a block from Times Square--very nice!
Some of our stops included, in no chronological order: the Botanical Garden in the Bronx, Times Square (like, every day, since we used the 42nd St subway station almost exclusively), Grand Central Station (another necessity), Beauty and the Beast (Broadway; our second time--still fantastic), Annie Get Your Gun (Broadway; much fun--Reba McEntire was wonderful), Naked Men Singing! (off Broadway; musical revue nicely summed up by the title--hysterical, if you don't mind the etymological irony, and highly recommended), China Town ('cos ya gotta), the Museum of Natural History, Central Park (I could live there if there weren't already plenty of other people living there), and the Hard Rock Cafe, where they played...um...Madonna and N-Sync. Go figure.
We stopped by the offices of Mad Magazine, did some shopping on 5th Avenue and ate some of the best food ever. We hit both the Disney Store and the Warner Brothers Store, though in all, we didn't really buy a whole lotta stuff. Most of our money went into seeing the plays and dining.
Apart from avoiding an entire week of rain here in Wisconsin, we mostly enjoyed not having to worry about jobs and stuff. Yay!
Now we have to figure out: do we start saving up to visit NY again next year? Or do we start saving to move to the east coast?
Hmmm.....
Well if you want me to go into more detail about a certain part of the trip, let me know and I'll start babbling. Well, more than I just did, anyway.
------------------
I'm a slave to karma, I'll be coming back--yeah I'll be coming back--but for the last time.
