Actually, the burst of inspiration came from a 1/2 hour commute on the motorcycle. Add to that about 25 minutes of hardcore writing, and you've got yourself a parody.
The parody lyrics will appear, in their entirity, in the annotations for this strip on Friday. For your singalong pleasure, of course.
What's the most fun? Since I'm updating the JoBeth.net pages myself, Shannon has NO CLUE what I'm going to do next! MUH-HA-HA!!
One more Pig strip on Friday, then a final one on Monday. Then some real strips.
------------------

I got a pretty good chuckle when I realized that the word to "Feed my Guinea Pig" actually do fit to the Alice Cooper song, "Feed my Frankenstein".
Pretty clever BJ. How long did it take you to fit the words to the song? Or was it one of those bursts of inspiration one gets after eating one too many powdered donuts at 3 in the morning?
What, doesn't everybody eat powdered donuts at 3 am?
-Zodo

I got an email yesterday telling me to "axe the Pig". I told him what I'll now tell you guys:
I'm stupid. I bit off more than I can chew, Keenspace-wise, so I had to cut corners. Each Pig strip takes a quarter of the time to produce than a normal JF strip, so I've been doing 'em to save time--and I don't think it's been helping at all.
Bitchin' Kitchen next week, followed by Jackie & Victor. Then Shannon & Ada. Then...some really interesting things. This will be good, because I'm pretty sick of the Pig as well.
To anyone I owe work to: There will be joy. I'm just gonna earn a few more grey hairs in the process.
------------------

i enjoy the Pig. obviously you're not going to turn Jackie's Fridge in Jackie's Pig, so i don't think anyone should worry. you're spending a few strips introducing it and just throw him in once in a while...no harm in that
keep up the good work
~j

Thanks, Jason. I'm still sick of him at this point, and I'm certainly not gonna saturate the site with him again.
BTW....*ahem*cough*ahem*...."Pope Fiction"...?
------------------

Oh, dear. I just got a warped idea. Ever hear of "St. George And The Dragon?"
Well, I thought of "St. Shannon And The Pig."
PIG: BWA HA HA HA! EVIL, EVIL, EVIL! *throws pellets like a guinea pig possessed*
JACKIE: *dressed as an English queen (monarchy, of course ^_^;; * Alas and alack! The Evil Pig doth defile our land with its endless rain of food pellets! SUMMON THE MIGHTIEST KNIGHTS IN THE KINGDOM! MY DAUGHTER'S HAND IN MARRIAGE TO HE WHO SLAYS THE PIG!
*MELISSA walks out, dressed as the typical princess/damsel in distress*
MELISSA: *dryly* Verily doth I wish that I had some say in this.
*Enter SHANNON, dressed as a knight, and ADA, dressed as a squire.*
ADA: 'Ow come I hav't'be the fookin' squire?
SHANNON: How come I have to be the one that faces the beast?
JACKIE: St. Shannon! Slay the evil pig for me, and thou shalt have Melissa's hand in marriage.
MELISSA: *dryly* Thou dost forget that I am already married.
JACKIE: Dost THOU want to fight the pig, Melissa?
MELISSA: *sighs* Good point.
SHANNON: Married? To Melissa? VERILY SHALL I DO IT! TO ME, MY STEED!
*FRIDGE slides in, painted brown and given hokey horse ears.*
ADA: This is fookin' ridiculous.
*SHANNON and ADA mount FRIDGE. (No, NOT like that. ^_^ *
SHANNON: We shall slay the beast and return within a fortnight!
*FRIDGE slides off with SHANNON and ADA.*
JACKIE: Godspeed, St. Shannon!
*LOU and BIPPY stand behind JACKIE dressed as court jesters.*
LOU: I've had enough of this. Let's take our leave.
BIPPY: Race you to "Tonja Steele?"
LOU: Thou art on.

Keep the pig -- I just stopped by to say that while I check up on Jackie's Fridge from time to time, the pig will keep me coming back daily...
Or don't, but know that for every complaint, there are at least a hundred folks who feel everything is going great, but don't say anything.
------------------

I'm not gonna ditch the Pig, but at the same time, he does get old. It's like the JoBeth! comic--you KNOW what the joke is, you just check to see what kind of spin we can put on it this time.
And after however many Pig strips in a row, I'm looking forward to drawing Ada, Gin & Lou.
Pig is evil.
------------------
