Yeah but people in BC can't get to heaven so it's a moot point (TM)On 2002-03-11 20:38, KaiTremeche wrote:

Taken from random internet resource:
A thermodynamics professor had written a take home exam for his graduate students.
It had one question:
Is hell exothermic or endothermic?
Support your answer with a proof.
Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following:
First, we postulate that if souls exist, then they must have some mass. If they do, then a mole of souls can also have a mass. So, at what rate are souls moving into hell and at what rate are souls leaving? I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving.
As for souls entering hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all people and all souls go to hell.
With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in hell to increase exponentially.
Now, we look at the rate of change in volume in hell. Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in hell to stay the same, the ratio of the mass of souls and volume needs to stay constant.
So, if hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter hell, then the temperature and pressure in hell will increase until all hell breaks loose.
Of course, if hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until hell freezes over.

Not really a viable part of the discussion, just something that was mentioned on the previous page.

Well a lot of people belive if your not urinated on by a priest, for example, you go to hell even if you didn't commit a sin. This is how they stay in business, by creating a false sense of need.On 2002-03-11 11:11, Striker wrote:You'd be amazed how many kids still die before they even get a chance to commit a sin nowadays...But yes, we'd see more than 90% of all adult souls in hell.On 2002-03-11 11:00, El SillY wrote:
Judging by the bible, I'd say about 100% are down there, I think even Mr J would be down there if he (according to the bible that is, according to me, well you all know what I think) wasn't actually God incarnated.

I agree, but since hell is not man made location, it will just take on more souls untill it compresses the souls into a finite mass which will collapse into a black hole!On 2002-03-12 06:43, krikkit wrote:

Possibly. Consider if hell -is- endothermic, its possible the cooling mass of souls, coupled with the searing energy that exists within the hellfire for now, may end up jettisoning some of the souls straight out of hell and forming a star in Hell.I agree, but since hell is not man made location, it will just take on more souls untill it compresses the souls into a finite mass which will collapse into a black hole!
