I don't quite understand how you get nominated. Care to explain?

I'm here! I'm here!Actually a number of your fellow cartoonists have to nominate you in order to be put on the voting poll. A nomination round will be opened up to anyone with an online comic. Those artists can then nominate comics for a list of categorys. The comics with the most nominations in each category are then announced and voted on by those same artists for the final award.Thanks for asking and don't hesitate to write me if youa have any specific questions.Thanks

Its because that page doesn't exist. There is a date saying when BoxJam posted, a little over 2 years ago. Thats why.
