Don't tell anyone, but sometimes I copy art from other comics.

OK, got a debate here for ya. From my minimal research opinion seems to be divided as to whether copying and pasting some of your art and just changing the text is an OK thing to do.
I admit Yahtzee Takes On The World does this quite a lot - it's made entirely in MS paint, I'd be a fool not to - but I do occasionally like to draw from scratch just to vary them a bit.
Surely it is not the art but the jokes that count? As long as what the character is doing is apparent, where is the sting? I'd be interested to hear your opinions.
------------------

AS long as it doesn't say in your contract that the work should be as difficult and time-consuming as possible or else the syndicate gets its money back, I don't see why not. If a panel has to look the same as the previous one, why re-draw it? They don't insist on you filling in large black areas by hand either.
Unfortunately, I'm rarely in that situation, but if I was, I wouldn't hesitate for a minute. I agree. The technique that most professionals use when drawing the exact same pose is to trace it on tracing paper, outline the other side, and then rub it on the strip surface. It works just like copying and pasting, but it takes about five minutes longer depending on the detail of the art. So why bother doing that when you can just copy and paste. I do this occassionally, simply because I don't have the time to do all the tracing and stuff. Besides it's a web comic. Computers should be used. I'm all for it in this day and age.
Pauly
------------------

Sometimes I draw a pose which I intend to copy and paste, but then I draw a different head or a face or features, and then erase the old face and collage the new features on.
Here's the best example of that - you also see that technique done better in College Roomies From Hell a lot.

Mab.
------------------
