I'm later to this post than that anxious rabbit to get to this post...
First, I complain(ed) an awful lot about my (lack of) popularity. I think it's fair to say that people gripe by nature and I am above average in that respect. That people want to defend their work from time to time is only reasonable given that many people here put work and effort and hope that others like their product. I agree, there's certainly a limit when trying to put down others for gain, but I haven't seen TOO much of that...
Second, 1000+ Pageviews? Maybe if you're in the upper echelon, Padre, but I'd say the average has to be a lot closer to 100 what with newbies and untalented hacks like m'self (must be someone else, eh?)
Third, we desparately need to find the original Spacers. This calls for a new topic and a round of Mr. Pibb.
------------------

<raises hand> old school. yeah.. there's some of us still left 24. i really liked your comic when it was running and made a point of telling you that in IRC. pretty much everybody here has beat me to the gun in regards to all the points and counterpoints. howard said it best, though, when he mentioned that cramming 300-400 artists (flaky and eccentric at best, attitude and nasty at worst) into a "virtual" community is bound to cause problems from time to time. i'm kind of at a crossroads too my man so i can kinda empathize with you. i'm glad you decided to continue at least... even if its not here. as long as my comic is still running i'd definately give you a front page plug once you're up and running. that's assuming Barclay continues past the hiatus/short story i have planned. i've been feeling rather uninspired lately and am not quite sure whether its just a phase or if i'm done telling stories with Barclay. anyhow... i feel for ya.. but just let me know when and where you're hosted and i'll link you up.
PS- destroy my site with visits between now and the end of Sunday night (last day of december) so that i can MAYBE break 1700 visits and 2500 pageviews. cripes... been almost 6 months and i still can't crack 3000 pageviews a month. as Serpentor used to decry, "This I COMMAND!" hehe... gi joe rules.

------------------

Okay I'm sorry, I'm a bitter ex-comic person. Unfortantly a lot of writers and artists get that way when they get the break. But He.. that guy was classic. *shudder* McFarlane.. WAY better. I'm not really into his stuff aside from his Toy line.. but from what I've met of im a long time ago.. cool guy. Which shows you can make it and NOT be a prick (Sorry to insult the male genitials)

------------------

Per day, right? Cuz if you're talking about per month then I'd have to feel REALLY superior, and I'm not good at that.
We get between 200 and 300 P per day (holidays sucked)
------------------

It's absolutely surreal and I'll only get to part of it. Mr. Pibb is a beverage made by Coke and Dr. Pepper is made by Cadbury-Schweppes, the Ginger Ale7-Up people. They both taste similar to each other and are BOTH similar to Cherry Coke, but better because they're less coke-like and more of their own beverage. I personally prefer Dr. Pepper, but I can't get Mr. Pibb where I live and so every time I'm away I ask for Mr. Pibb and laugh hysterically because that is the goofiest name for a soda EVER! (That's just part of the story.)
Oh, and don't feel bummed about the page views. I know the feeling.

quote:
Originally posted by Seven3:

There's a point. Paul, Scott, how many days a week does your comic run?
I'm getting 44 per day for a weekly comic. In theory at least, that would mean I'd get 132 if I updated three times a week, and 308 if it was daily.
Anyway I've decided I'm not going to pay too much attention to my stats any more. As notforprophet wrote in my weblog: "never rely on statistics like a drunken man who leans against a lamppost--more for support than illumination"
------------------

Mark Twain had a quote that is probably appropriate here, too. "There are three types of lies. Lies, damn lies, and statitistics."
I used to obsess over the stats, but then I found out how much (actually, how little) any payment actually would be. Suddenly, it wasn't such a big deal and a great psychological weight was lifted. I still check my stats frequently but now it's more to see where referalls are coming from than specifically how many pageviews I'm getting.
And any comic that updates less than M-F is (I think) going to have a problem reaching the magic 50k/month pageviews, and anybody that updates weekly only is going to have a big problem (sorry, Seven^3). We just don't have enough content. Not that it can't be done, but it's tough.
------------------
