Man, screw Keenspot, seriously
What brand of crack are you smoking? I really wanna know.
No variety on 'spot? Have you LOOKED at them?
Here's a list for comparison:
http://www.lookwhatibroughthome.com/ http://www.livingingreytown.com/ http://www.youdamnkid.com/ http://www.krazylarry.com/ http://www.ashfieldonline.com/ http://www.bobbins.org/ http://www.superosity.com/ http://www.pentasmal.com/ http://www.poisonedminds.com/ (SSDD) http://www.crfh.net/
That's just a random sampling. These are VERY different comics, stylistically and otherwise.
If you're finding them "haughty" for not responding...consider that they might have other things on their minds. This is not likely to be their full-time occupation. Read their forums, scout their webpage, see if they have a fanart page ... The few I've conversed with have been friendly, though often a bit rushed. These include the artists who creat CRFH and LiG L&FI Nukees Class Menagerie and Suburban Jungle.
Don't classify everyone in that group -- it's not any more fair than it would be to try to classify all the 'Space creators. This whining is getting on my nerves. My experience is that this is a great community, 'Space and 'Spot, from the artists to the folks running it. I have formed this opiniop after conversing in forum or e-mail with dozens of people. It frankly kinda ticks me off to hear people bashing the community because someone was rude to them. Sheesh! We're over 500 people! It takes all kinds, some are nicer than others, some have more time than others, some are m0ore helpful than others, and some are currently having a better day right now than others. Like any group of people. But if you take an average baseline of the attitudes here at Keens*, I think you'll find them friendlier, more helpful, and just all-around nicer than the population at large.
And even the whiners often settle down and get over it once they actually MEET someone.
------------------

i never said they were haughty, i dissagree w/ that. I know Pentasma'l creator, and paul southworth is nice and helpful. it's jsut that the recent types of comics that have gotten Spotted are too similar for my tastes. but that's just me. i think they're the same. you cann't argue and tell me i don't think that.

Well, it seems to me that Chris is only after the comics that will get KSpot more hits and money. Manga-esque and nudity can easily accomplish both of those. But, I think that some people have to understand is that KSpot is about the comics. Not the money, not the hits, but about the comics. There doesn't seem to be much variety on Spot anymore. In the newspaper comics, there is much more variety. Now of course there are millions of comic that are alike another one, but Spot seems to have many of the same type of coomic. Manga and sex based.
------------------

I call this sort of attitude "indie syndrome" because it shows up in just about any community that defines itself as not being part of the mainstream. Basically it comes down to this:

Popular things are popular because they have no integrity.

Indie stuff has integrity, and therefore deserves to be popular.

If anything formerly indie becomes popular, it must be because it "sold out" and therefore no longer deserves respect.

Frankly, I go for all kinds. I like some mainstream music and some indie music. I like movies from big Hollywood studios, Troma, Hong Kong, and unknowns with camcorders and creativity. I like comic books from the Big Three and small presses. I like comic strips in my newspaper, on Keenspot, on Keenspace, and totally unaffiliated.
------------------
"Truth hides on the other side of a two-way mirror
In countless documents sent straight to the shredder
That might finally give us the whole of the picture
But until the day we decide to dig a little deeper
We know that truth will hide
Under fallen rocks and stones
At the end of a disconnected phone
Down an unmarked street
And buried, deep beneath your feet."

sorry. some are slightly haughty. the dude who does sinfest and the dude who does krazy larry were helpful, and superosity guy (sorry. too lazy to remember names right now) has always been cool. but it word be hard not to be haughty at that, uh... popularity.
------------------

I have just one question about EN. EN started in July, but Poe has been doing comics since before EN, meaning it was before July. And to get onto KSpot you must be doin comics for 6 months. EN has met that requirement (and so have i, b/c i started in June), but does Crosby also count the comics that were done before EN?
------------------

GIANT ROBOTS! GIANT ROBOTS! <Pant pant> GIANT ROBOTS! ... Giant robots! Anime has giant robots! God I sound stupid. GIANT ROBOTS! Dammit, anime isn't just big eyes and lesbians... GIANT ROBOTS! <Breathe> I just wish I could draw them well... But I'm trying! Oh. And Japanese schoolgirls and alien tentacle monsters. Giant robots, Japanese schoolgirls, and alien tentacle monsters. And 14 year olds saving the world repeatedly. And yelling out attacks before you do something. Like "choujin god fire guts!" Giant robots, Japanese schoolgirls, alien tentacle monsters, and yelling attacks out before you do something. And love trianles. Always gotta have them love triangles. Jesus, pardon me, I have to draw someone killing Minmay/Minmei for a second. BRB. *splat* Back. There, I feel better now. Anyway, there's a lot more to anime/manga stereotypes than just big eyes and lesbians. Yeesh.
------------------

"Haughty" is a very funny word. If anyone created a comic strip called "Haughty" or "Haughty's Place", it would be promoted to Keenspot IMMEDIATELY!
(I'm just kidding about that.)
I have just one question about EN. It's UNLIKELY you'll be invited to Keenspot before completing six months of consistent strips, but it's far from impossible. It depends on the strip.
Well, it seems to me that Chris is only after the comics that will get KSpot more hits and money. I was going to create the ultimate comic strip called "Haughty Nipples", but then my future self appeared and told me that such a strip would eventually be so superior that it would become self-aware, decide that webcartoonists are extraneous, and begin a campaign of hunting us down and exterminating us.
Then he kicked me in the crotch and told me to find a real hobby.
------------------
