Thought I'd break this out to its own thread...
I'll volunteer to kind of coordinate any effort to attend the Summer, 2001 Con here in Chicago. Give me some time and I'll put up a page at Odd Jobs. In the meantime, if everyone interested would post here, I'll start making a list.
First off, here's the contract language I was looking for before:
"For the fee, the guest receives a guest badge for himself along with a weekend pass for a friend or spouse/significant other. Also the guest receives access to our Hospitality Room. This is for the guest only and does not give access to the guests friend or spouse. The space rented is intended for one guest only. If you purchase one 6' table that table is for you alone. There is no sharing of table space allowed, each creator must register and purchase his/her own space.
Remember to include a signed guest contract with your payment.
Samples of your work must be included to receive guest status. "
Pretty much rules out sharing a table. However, there are other options. I know I'm still going to get a table. I think JoBeth.net will too. Anyone who gets tables can ask to be put next to other specific guests.
I don't think a dealer table makes sense. It's way more expensive than Artist's Alley, and comes with only two guest passes. I''ve emailed the Keenspot folks to see if they're interested, but they may not be ready to do this in Chicago yet. Actually, it's probably a better idea for them to try this in San Diego and gauge the response. San Diego is closer for them, thus saving airfare and hotel costs. But we'll see.
There are other options. Buying a pass for all weekend and using my table for a base. Or if you're really strapped for cash, you can volunteer for a four-hour period and get free admission.
But let's start with a list of people interested. I can reserve a block of rooms depending on the number who want to attend. I'd suggest three to a room, that way costs get spread out and if someone backs out, one person is still not stuck for the bill.
But I'm getting ahead of myself. Who wants to come to Chicago this summer? Post your name and email address.

------------------

You can count me in, Tim. I'll have the money to do whatever. It doesn't cost that much.
Paul Roustan

So no chance of a 'Space table then? It's a shame as a lot of good comics come from out-of-the-way places. At the very least could you mention that there's more of us back here?
------------------

It's rumoured that it you play the Win2000 CD backwards you'll hear a satanic message. Even worse tho', if you play it forwards it'll install Windows 2000.
