So? What's preventing us from starting a new one that WILL be moderated?

This is why the 'Spotted cartoonists should remove their banners themselves. I notice that Lost and Found Investigations did so (good ol' LaFI). Can't really do anything about the cartoonists who have just given up, so to speak.
Mab

quote:
Originally posted by PDI:

Hmmmm.....
Good point.
If I start a new Keenspace TopSites, would everybody switch to it? That way it'll be moderated at least.

Is it just me who thinks that Common Grounds, Schlock Mercenary, and Greystone Inn should remove their listings from the Keenspace top 100 list now they've been keenspotted, and give Space comics a chance to make themselves heard? (oh and Living in Greytown, under the "PENIS VAGINA SEX" listing.)
Oh and those whose comics have ended as well shouldn't really be taking up space on the list if they've stopped their comic and removed their site (like Superdupe Kids).
I mailed the author of Common Grounds about it, but I think she might not have read my mail yet, or hasn't answered. . I just don't think it is really quite fair on people - I know I would remove my listing if for any reason I ever stopped being a Space comic.
Mab
------------------

i know what you mean, i was just thunk about that yesterday. it's kind of annoying to have a comic that hasn't updated in two months be ahead of mine and some others that aren't even on keenspace as well.
------------------

With some of the ideas here I agree with, but
......
Think about Road Waffles on Keenspot. People
may want to keep on reading a comic, even if
it has ended. If no longer accessible from the Keenspace list, then Clean up the Debris
by all means! I don't have a comic, and I
am not part of the staff. What I have done
is to record on "Guide to the KeenSpace List"
(on Memo, its just information, not a program) every title in Keenspace with its status (Strips up or no strips up yet),and
if it has strips up,whether or not it can
be accessed from the Keenspace Select-a-space dropdown, and finally a list of sites that appear to have been abandoned.
If you like, I can email it to you.
To ask, email me at richardwebster@scescape.net
. Does DARROW by Seth Manrow still exist?
I'm trying to get it's URL so I can check its status.

Um...they're talking about the KeenSpace Top 100 popularity list, not the general KeenSpace comics list.

------------------

[ranty opinion]
In terms of the Top 100 list, I'll agree that it seems a tad odd/silly/insert-word-here that non-Space comics are still on the list (i.e., CGrounds, LiG, Greystone Inn), but then again they DID start on KSpace, so I dunno...
The bigger problem, as I understand it, is that *no one* runs the Top 100 list anymore; the "phoenix" guy stopped, and now the damn thing's just on autopilot.
Meaning, of course, that it's not going to change anytime soon...
........
In terms of removing sites from the KeenSpace MAINLIST itself (*not* the top 100), I'll agree that retired comics should still be kept on the server, or at least those that have posted a certain minimum number of strips (e.g., a site that only put up two or three comics before quitting should be put/kept in the NOT-STARTED/FOETAL list)...
Of course, I am suggesting that there should be three lists: one for ACTIVE comics, one for RETIRED/DORMANT comics, and one for NOT-QUITE-STARTED/FOETAL comics (these three lists would be updated/checked/reviewed monthly)...
And as for the NOT-STARTED list, I'd have a certain 'Logan's Run' limit on it... If a comic hasn't started after say, two or three months, then I'd delete it entirely from the listing. No sense wasting space if you're not serious enough to start using it... If said listing's owner really wanted to start a comic after that, he'd have to reapply~~ it would be his/her fault for not being dedicated enough to draw a comic in two/three months in the first place!
[/ranty opinion]

------------------
