Neon Umbra
Group 7 (Seven^3):
Portside
The Masked Acolyte
The Sporkman Chronicles
Guardian Angel

Group 8 (Screwball McGoo)
Nerdz
Lewiscode
Pimp Cow
Blotto Street
Silly Cone V
Group 9:
Raiders of the Lost Punchline
Aren't We Real
Framed!
5th Direction
What/s A Life?
Group 10 (Marshall Ricks)
Droll Street
Regina Felina
Jackie's Fridge
Strange Daze
The groups were determined in as random a manner as I could manage, which was pretty darn random. If you've got any questions, post em here. I also tried to get as close to 5 comics per group as possible. With 47 participants, we got 7 groups with 5 and 3 with 4.
Notice that some groups (1,4,5,7,8&10) have someone's name in parentheses. This is the comic wrangler, or the hombre responsible for ridin herd on them dogies and gettin em to Abeline. No, wait. I was thinking of something else.
The wrangler is responsible for collecting and uploading the pictures beginning on or about December 1. We still need four more, so anyone from one of the unclaimed groups who wants to, just post a notice here and take charge.
We also (I think) are looking for people to help design and (possibly) code the pages, although Todd has done a tremendous job so far. I'm sure he'd appreciate the help, though.
That's it for now. Get going on your pics!
Matt
------------------

the groups seem to be squooshed together a bit, so would group one (which I will use as an example, me being the "wrnagler" of the group) be just Saving the World, Chaos Inc, Fish & Worm, Chris and the Crew, and Forsooth? Or is it all those comics together in that paragraph?
And are people drawing the characters in the group that their comic was put in?

The whole squished thing got taken care of almost immediately. [mental note] Don't try to make columns in the discussion group.[/mental note] It should be much more obvious now which comics are in which groups. Group 1 is... well, no sense in repeating it when it's been fixed.
And yes, you draw the characters in your group. At least, that was my impression of how this was going to work. I don't want to make this appear overly restrictive, but as was mentioned early in the original thread, if we got to pick, a very few strips would be picked by many people while the vast majority got little attention. Part of this was to spread attention around, especially to those strips that don't get much. So. I don't think you have to draw everybody in your group, but at least one from each strip would be nice.
Matt

I might suggest that everyone in a particular group find a way to communicate with each other before going too far in the drawing. The "Contacts" page on the Party 2001 site should have an e-mail address for everyone (whether it's the most current address or not may be in question). Perhaps one of the people in each group could volunteer their forum for a central discussion place.
Because I grabbed some pictures off cast pages and some right from the strips, you should probably make sure how they want their characters should look (that is, did I grab a representative picture for the "RSVP" page).
Also, it may be a good idea to reiterate what you don't want your characters doing in these discussions. I wouldn't spend too much time on this, as it will be just one picture. Some people gave very intricate character descriptions which were very interesting to read, but may be overkill for this project. Some of the fun will come from seeing your own characters in situations you wouldn't draw yourself. But you should make it clear if, for example, you don't want your character acting promiscuously.
------------------

The RSVP list has been broken up into groups for your viewing pleasure. That RSVP page was taking forever to load, anyway, but I guess that's a good thing!
The RSVP page is still intact if you want to see everyone who is participating, but you can also go to the home page at http://party2001.keenspace.com to get to the Group pages.
------------------

I'll give it a go, having calmed down somewhat. Have looked at the archives again, still don't like, but I have some ideas as to how I can deal with it. It's a challenge, anyway, I suppose.
I wasn't sure just WHO to e-mail or who to address as I couldn't work out exactly who was in charge of what, - and was REALLY reluctant to post to the forum about it, but the more I thought about it, the more I felt I had to say something or explode suddenly on December 1st with things even worse to say... (which has happened several times before.)
I AM a prima donna. Face it, when you come from generation upon generation of musicians and artists, you pick up a lot of prima donna behaviour. And I overreact at the worst possible times. I recognise that, and I'm sorry that I came across like that. I'm REALLY sorry that I don't like the strip, but I can't pretend I like it or even care for it in the slightest...
I am really sorry to Screwball for insulting him through his comic. I'm sure he is a good person, I just don't "get" his humour nor do I care for the content of his strip. I can have a go at the project and see what I can do, though. That is, supposing I'm still a part of group 8 (never a good move to insult the head honcho of your group.)
Maboo.

Ow! Now I figured out where this banner month has been coming from.
Anyway, I completely understand anyone having a bitter dislike of my strip. A hatred maybe is beyond my grasp. I'm hoping my lack of skill ultimately inspires pity. If someone (anyone) wants to switch out or not use my characters in their art, it's fine. I won't object. After all, are not the black sheep somewhat darker than their white counterparts... or something.

quote:
Originally posted by Maboo:

Hrmhrmhrm. I knew this was going to come up.
Some pretty far-out match-ups came out of the random group generator. Is your objection due to content, although Nerdz can't be more offensive than Pimp Cow, or is it more artistic in nature? Drawing the characters isn't the same as writing one of the strips, IMO, but that's just me.
I hesitate to bring this up and wreck the carefully-sculpted chaos I produced, but if you have serious problems with your group, and you can find someone in another group, I guess you can switch with them. I implore you though, PLEASE don't do it on a whim, otherwise we may have just grouped by genre and had all the sf strips in this group, all the college strips in this group, and all the strips with talking beverage containers in this group.
I suppose that if you object to subject matter it's one thing, but harping on the art or writing is another, less credible argument.
------------------
